For students with a fuel efficient vehicle (definition), a discount-priced Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit is available for certain fuel efficient vehicles (FEVs). A Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit replaces and has the same regulations as the Semester Parking Permit.

How to get a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Discounted Semester Parking Permit?

Application Process

Students who wish to obtain a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit must contact Campus Police Services and fill out an application form listing the vehicle that qualifies for the discount and the Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit. The application will be signed under penalty of perjury and submitted to Campus Police Services.

Upon review and confirmation that the vehicle does qualify as a fuel efficient vehicle, a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit will be approved by Campus Police Services.

Cost of Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permits

The cost for a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit is 20% below the normal cost of a Semester Parking Permit.

The student shall pay for the permit online at Ohlone's PayMyCite website. Upon presentation of proof of purchase Campus Police Services will issue a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit.

Purchase a Fuel-efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit

A Fuel-efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit may be purchased (non-refundable) purchased online at Ohlone's PayMyCite website. A Fuel-efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit is valid for the semester purchased.

Additional Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit Rules

  • A Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit is valid only for the semester issued, and must be renewed each semester.
  • A Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit is valid only for the vehicle listed in the application.
  • Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permits are valid at both the Fremont and Newark campuses.
  • The Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit must be visibly and prominently displayed for traffic enforcement personnel viewing - it should be hung from the rear-view mirror.
  • The Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit is:
    • not valid for staff parking lots or areas, visitor parking spaces
    • not valid for Disabled Parking stalls unless a Disabled Placard/License Plate/Permit is also displayed; Disabled Parking stalls in Lot P on the Fremont campus require a Daily Parking Permit
  • Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permits may not be transferred or lent to another person.

What is a Fuel Efficient Vehicle?

Vehicles qualified under the definitions and guidelines set forth by the California Air Resources Board (ARB) and the American Council for the Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) and recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will be issued a discounted semester parking permit after approval by Campus Police Services.

In order for a vehicle to qualify as Fuel Efficient / Low Mileage / Alternative Fuel Vehicle, the vehicle must be recognized by the USGBC. The two sources for vehicles that qualify are the UCGBC LEEDS vehicles list and the ACEEE. The vehicles that qualify are listed annually and the list is updated and changed periodically.

Student Parking with a Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit

A valid Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit allows a student to park in one parking space, except restricted spaces. A Fuel Efficient Vehicle Semester Parking Permit has the same regulations as a full-priced Semester Parking Permit. For valid parking locations, refer to:
