Introduction to the Art Department
The Ohlone College Art Department offers art classes in Art History, Drawing and Painting; the opportunity to work with Sculpture, Ceramics and Glass, and learn about Museum and Gallery techniques; as well as Photography, Graphic Arts, Interior Design, and Multimedia.

Art Degrees and Certificates
Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degrees
- Art A.A. Degree (PDF) - Designed to prepare students for studying Fine Arts at most universities. While the core courses required in the Associate in Arts in Art will fulfill the lower division major requirements at many universities, students are advised to meet with their counselor to assess the course requirements for specific universities. This program will enable students to develop a strong foundation in art.
- Fine Arts: Art Concentration A.A. Degree (PDF) - The Associate in Arts degree in Fine Arts has three concentrations: Art; Music; and Theatre and Dance. Students may choose one of the concentrations to earn a degree in Fine Arts. These courses emphasize the study of cultural and humanistic activities and artistic expression of human beings. Students will evaluate and interpret the ways in which people through the ages in different cultures have responded to themselves and the world around them in artistic and cultural creation. Students will also learn to value aesthetic understanding and incorporate these concepts when constructing value judgments.
- Graphic Arts / Computer Graphics A.A. Degree (PDF) - Designed to prepare students as graphic artists for careers with graphic design printing companies and other media firms. Students are encouraged to develop a wide variety of skills in order to be better prepared for a range of job opportunities. Placement often depends upon the portfolio of completed work, willingness to move to a different area, and job availability.

- Paul Mueller: Photography professor, published - February 11, 2010, Ohlone College Monitor - Professor Paul Mueller was given his first camera at the age of 15 and hasn’t stopped taking photographs for more than 30 years. He has taught photography at Ohlone for 10 years. And as a parent, he loves taking pictures of his daughter Sadie, just as any parent does.
- Deaf Taiwanese’s Photography Displayed in Deaflympics Stadium - September 7, 2009, Deaf Nation - … His goal was to become a professional photographer, so he went overseas to the United States to attend two different colleges, Ohlone College and the Academy of Arts located in the greater San Francisco bay area in California.
