  • National Slam Poet Winner Coming to Ohlone!

    • Speaker: Javon Johnson, Ph.D from San Francisco State University and Nationally Winning Slam Poet.
    • Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at San Francisco State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Performance Studies, with a cognate in African American Studies and a certificate in Gender Studies, from Northwestern University. He is a back-to-back national poetry slam champion (2003 & 2004), has appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, BET’s Lyric Café, TVOne’s Verses & Flow, and co-wrote a documentary titled Crossover, which aired on Showtime, in collaboration with the NBA and Nike. He has written for Our Weekly, Text & Performance Quarterly, The Root, and is currently working on his book about how Blackness operates in slam and spoken word poetry communities.

    • Speaker: Yoav Zeevi, Director of Business at Facebook
    • Yoav Zeevi, Director of Business Development at Facebook, leads some of the company’s strategic partnerships as well as new product initiatives. Prior to Facebook, Yoav was at HP for three years where he held various roles, including corporate strategy and development and leading HP’s PC Group new business development. Before HP, he was a consultant at McKinsey where he focused on telecommunications and technology in numerous strategy and operational projects for US and for international markets. Yoav was born and raised in Israel. Prior to moving to the US, Yoav practiced law in Israel, at the Israel Supreme Court and at the Antitrust Authority. He enjoys kitesurfing, scuba diving and snowboarding. Yoav lives in Mountain View, CA with his wife Anat and little Yonatan.
