- Deaf Education Certificate of Accomplishment (PDF) - Course offerings for the Deaf Education Certificate of Accomplishment are designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge and background information on the educational needs of Deaf and hard of hearing children. Historical perspectives and contemporary trends associated with Deaf Education are discussed. The focus of these courses is to provide Deaf and hard of hearing students with opportunities to compare and contrast classroom learning with their own personal experiences.
Theoretical background in the Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, along with practical applications of these theories is emphasized throughout the program. The curriculum was designed with input from the administration at the California School for the Deaf (CSD) to ensure that graduates of the program are qualified for employment opportunities at CSD and other programs serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. Course completion in both Deaf Education I and Deaf Education II are required by the State of California for employment as a residential counselor.
