Child Development Careers Program
Are you are a current or at any time been a CalWORKs/TANF recipient and interested in a career working with young children? Then the Child Development Careers program is for you.
Benefits of the program include:
- Paid tuition and books
- Child care options and referrals
- Transportation funding
- Career counseling, faculty advising
The Child Development Careers Program has two main purposes:
- to meet California’s increasing demand for additional high quality child development professionals, and
- to train Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients for careers in child development by achieving their Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit, providing job placement services and follow-up educational plans that will help them achieve self-sufficiency and escape the cycle of welfare dependency and poverty.
