Preview Worksheet 3 - English 163 Techniques of Reading - English Learning Center

A preview helps you discover what a textbook chapter is going to be about. If you have a general idea about what you will be learning, you will learn more. To preview a chapter, do the following:

1. Read the title and think about it
2. Read the introduction
3. Read the subheadings
   1. Notice the words in special print (Bold, Italics, etc.)
   2. Notice the illustrations (Graphs, Pictures, Diagrams, etc.)
   3. Read the first sentence of each paragraph
4. Read the summary

When you have completed the preview, complete the following two exercises.
