  • Perennial shrub with oval-shaped leaves that are green on top and fuzzy white on the bottom, and upright or nodding flower spikes whose blooms may be pink, purple, orange, or white
  • Native to China but grown in many regions around the Mediterranean and the west coast of the United States as a garden plant; considered a weed in some regions
  • Planted for its attractiveness to humans and to pollinators such as butterflies
