Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Summer 2013 ESL Classes

Q. How much does it cost?

Nothing. (This is a pilot program, paid for by the Basic Skills Initiative.)

Q. Will we need to buy books?

No, but teachers may continue using the book(s) you used in Spring 2013. If you are a new student who did not take the previous course, some photocopied materials will be provided for you if those books are used.

Q. What class do I choose if I just completed two levels, such as 181RW and 182LS, or 182RW and 183LS?

Choose the Reading/Writing level you just finished in Spring 2013. If you're a new student, see the chart above, and go by your Reading/Writing placement. (If you have just been placed into 182RW, you will take the 181+ class to prepare for it.)

Q. How do I register?

Send an email to the teacher of the level you belong in, and let him/her know that you plan to attend. These classes are not in WebAdvisor. Additional information may be sent to you after you send this initial email.

Q. Will I need a parking permit to park my car on campus?

Yes, you'll have to buy one online, as usual, from the Ohlone College website. It is $20 for a summer parking permit.
