PTA-102 Pathology Grading

Tests and Assignments

Written Exams

You will have two midterm exams and one final exam, each worth 20% of your final grade. These tests will consist primarily of multiple choice, matching, and true/false questions. A brief section of short answer essays and fill in the blank questions may also be incorporated.

Reading

A list of reading assignments will be distributed in class, and is listed here. Each student is expected to have completed the readings prior to class to allow for discussion and questioning regarding the readings.

Quizzes

Occasional brief quizzes will be given throughout the semester during the first 10 minutes of lecture over the reading for that week. These scores will be worth a total of 5% of your total grade for the class. You will not be permitted to make-up missed quizzes unless you notify the instructor in advance of your absence.

On-line Assignments

As part of the Tech Tools requirements, you will be completing two on-line assignments in this course. One will cover location and use of on-line medical dictionaries and drug information. The second will help you in using search engines to locate medical information on the internet. These assignments are each worth 10% of your overall grade.

Disease/Disorder Paper

You will choose a medical condition (this topic must be cleared with the instructor by a specific date), research this condition in journal articles, and prepare a paper on this condition and its physical therapy intervention(s) based on your findings. This is to be a typed paper. Detailed instructions regarding this assignment will be given by the instructor. This paper is worth 15% of your overall grade.
