PTA-111 Advanced Procedures Grading

Tests and Assignments

Written Exams & Quizzes

Quizzes and two final exams (one covering the prosthetics/orthotics portion and one covering the soft tissue portion) will be given in this class. They will consist of multiple choice, true/false, and short answer type of questions. Please see the schedule for exact dates

Reading

A list of reading assignments will be distributed in class, and is listed here. Each student is expected to have completed the readings prior to class to allow for discussion and questioning regarding the readings.

Skills Check Offs

You will be required to demonstrate competence in specific skill categories (i.e., soft tissue mobilization, donning/doffing prosthetics) during lab sessions. The instructor will distribute materials detailing the items you will be evaluated on, along with a complete list of skills for this class. You will not be permitted to take your final exam unless you have completed all required skills check-offs.

Field Trips

Students will visit a P/O lab to see the production and modification of prosthetics and orthotics first hand. Patient evaluations may be part of this experience. Please dress professionally, wear your Ohlone PTA name badge, and conduct yourself appropriately. You will be informed by the instructor well in advance of any field trip, and you will be given specific information on the time, date, location, etc. Most field trips complete specialized skills check off items, and thus are mandatory. You will be required to provide your own transportation to and from any field trips.
