About the Traditional Respiratory Therapist Program

Students working in the Respiratory Therapy Lab. Since 1980, Ohlone College has been at the forefront of Respiratory Therapist Education in the East San Francisco Bay Area. Ohlone College's RT Program is an advanced level program, preparing graduates to become Registered Respiratory Therapists with an Associate in Science degree.

Our Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) through the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). The program can be completed in two years by full-time students or via part-time enrollment over 3-4 years.

Clinical experience is provided under experienced faculty and community preceptor supervision and begins in the first semester of the program. Our many successful graduates work throughout Bay Area hospitals, home care agencies, and in other settings. We have excellent pass rate on license examinations and our graduates excel in their work environments as competent caregivers, and in leadership roles as managers and educators.
