Awards and Recognition for the Speech & Communication Studies Department
The following awards were presented in recognition of the efforts and successes of our faculty and students in Speech & Communication Studies at Ohlone College.
National Communication Association Outstanding Community College Instructor of the Year, 2004 - Kay Harrison honored for helping speech department grow, article by Danelle Meyer, Staff writer, reprinted from the Monitor - Thursday, September 15, 2005.
January 2005 issue of Spectra, The 2004 NCA award winners (PDF), p. 12 - Kay Harrison is given the Community College Outstanding Educator Award (includes photo of Kay with the award).
In March 2004, Kay Harrison, Professor of Speech & Communication Studies and Coordinator of International Education, was awarded the International Exemplary Leader award by the Chair Academy for her outstanding contributions to the students and staff at Ohlone College for the past 25 years. Ohlone College, was awarded the Model Teaching Award for an outstanding Speech & Communication Studies Department at a community college by Western States Communication Association (WSCA) in Spring 2000 for the breadth & depth of our courses and programs.
