Speech Communication Lab - Speech & Communication Studies
The Maggie Morrisson Speech Communication Lab, located in Hyman Hall, Room HH-216, is available to all Ohlone students, staff, faculty, and the public who would like help with the development and delivery of oral presentations from research, outlining, delivery, and visual aids including PowerPoint presentations.

The Speech Communication Lab is set up to provide one-on-one training with people coming in who need to prepare a speech for any class or public speaking event. People can also tape themselves practicing a presentation so they can review it and make improvements. As the lab continues to grow, students, faculty, and staff wanting information on other areas of communication studies, such as interpersonal and intercultural communication, small group leadership, persuasion, etc., can also find resources here.
For Instructors...
We have some interesting and helpful assignment suggestions, including pronunciation diagnostics for students wishing to improve their English skills, brainstorming sessions for students trying to come up with project topic ideas, presentation aid advice and practice for future presentations, Lab tour questionnaires, interview exercises, and more.
For students...
We have friendly, helpful staff who are there for you, and usually also a snack, be it hard candy or mini-treats, to offer a quick pick-me-up before classes.

Christeen Kelley is an Ohlone College Speech & Communication Studies instructor. She has a staff of 20 trained tutors scheduled throughout the week who staff the lab. Christeen Kelley comes to Ohlone College from CSU East Bay where she was their Communication Lab Coordinator.
