Unless otherwise noted, classes meet at the Ohlone College Newark Center, Room NC-1407, 39399 Cherry Street, Newark (Campus Map and Directions).

  1. Naiya - Belly Dance instructor.Rak On! Intro to Belly Dance (aka Raks Sharqi: Middle Eastern Dance) -
    Learn basic belly dance steps, movements and Middle Eastern rhythms. No previous dance experience needed. Get a great workout, improve your posture and have fun!
    • 10-week session: Wednesdays, February 17 - April 28, 5:30pm - 7:00pm
    • $100 / 10 weeks

  2. Spinning class in action!Sunrise Spin -
    Enjoy the calorie burning, heart-thumping power of indoor cycling as you watch the sun rise over Mission Peak. You'll feel the difference after the first class. You'll see the difference in one month! No cycling experience necessary. Space is limited! Register today!

  3. Man doing pushups.Resolution Ramp Up Boot Camp -
    Jump start your fitness regiment in 2010 with our Resolution Ramp Up! This class pulls out all of the stops and guarantees to get your metabolism fired up and calories burning. In one week, you’ll feel your muscles wake up. After two weeks, you’ll notice your clothes fit a little better and others will begin to see the difference. Don’t delay. Register today!
  4. Tai Chi and Qigong -
    • Qigong and Tai Chi Fitness Prep, 10:00am - 11:00am - Strongly recommended for all students, this one hour class utilizes basic stretching, Qigong and Tai Chi forms to provide a well-rounded fitness workout and readies the mind, body and spirit for serious Tai Chi/Qigong learning and practice.
    • Chen Style Tai Chi, 11:00am - 1:00pm - The original form of Tai Chi, Chen Style is more lively than the more widely practiced Yang style. Lower deep stances and power release (Fajing) for the more advanced practitioners, are among the characteristics of Chen Style.
    • Saturday, January 9 - March 20 (10 classes) (no class February 13)

  5. Yin Yang Tai Chi -
    Every movement in the Yin Yang Tai Chi 13 Postures is done on both the left and right sides to promote balance. The movements emboy both explicit and hidden, soft and explosive power with martial arts applications that are unique. Additionally, this routine has included some of the typical movements from Yang, Chen, Sun, and Wu styles of Tai Chi.
  6. Yoga Meditation -
    Calm. Centered. Lengthened. Stretch your mind and your body to new lengths. Challenge your body with asanas that combine with breath to move you past limitations and barriers. End your practice with meditation that will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed.
    • Monday/Thursday, 7:00pm - 8:15pm
