Important: Policy for Repeating Courses has Changed

The California Community College Board of Governors recently passed revisions to Title 5 regarding course repetition that are effective starting Summer 2012.

Students will only be allowed to enroll in a course not designated as "repeatable" (ENGL-101A, for instance) three times if they received a substandard grade (D, F, NP, or NC) or withdrew from the class with a W.

These new regulations will be applied retroactively so enrollments prior to Summer 2012 will be counted towards the three times, and any student who has already taken a course the maximum number of times will no longer be able to take the same course at Ohlone College. Please refer to Repeating Courses for more information.

Tips Before Registration

The following paragraphs are designed to help you navigate the registration process as effectively as possible.

Online access through WebAdvisor remains your fastest and most accurate resource to view available classes and plan your schedule. If for some reason you do not have a WebAdvisor account, please sign up for WebAdvisor as soon as possible.

Before you can register, you must verify your contact information, California residency status, and academic program as well as select an education goal through the Student Profile page on WebAdvisor. In order to save time you can do this prior to your registration time.

The Student Heath Fee has been increased by $1 this semester ($19 for Fall, $16 for Summer).

The following tips will help you take full advantage of your registration appointment:

  1. Consult the 2012 Summer/Fall Class Schedule. The online class schedule is available now for viewing via WebAdvisor. This information will assist you in planning your schedule before your registration time.

  2. Using WebAdvisor, you can pre-select courses you want and save them as your "Preferred Sections." This will save you time and effort at your actual registration time. For instructions on how to create and use Preferred Section lists, please login to WebAdvisor, select the "Register for Sections" button under the Registration section. Next, select the "Search and Register for sections" button. Then finally chose the Help button at the top of the screen and scroll down until you see the instructions for Preferred Sections.

  3. Schedule an appointment with a counselor to help plan your course schedule. You may schedule an appointment by visiting the Counseling window on the third floor in Building 7 at the Fremont campus, calling (510) 659-6110, or using the online Counseling appointment scheduling system.

  4. You must clear any blocks or holds on your account. You may be blocked from registration for academic standing (academic or progress probation), an outstanding balance, or a variety of other holds. The following resources apply to these concerns:

    1. Outstanding Balance on Your Student Account: Be sure to check your balance on WebAdvisor prior to your registration time. For questions regarding your account balance, you may contact the Cashier's Office at (510) 659-6073 or send a message to studentreceivable@ohlone.edu. You can also view the Cashier's Office website.

    2. Academic Standing: If your academic standing is anything other than "Clear Standing" you may be blocked from registering. Please refer to the Student Success website to learn how to clear your academic standing registration hold. For specific questions regarding academic standing or matriculation requirements, contact Electronic Counseling.

    3. Miscellaneous Holds: Holds may also be placed on your account at any time for library fines, missing keys, equipment, etc. Please be sure that you have resolved such issues.

Finally, if you are seeking financial assistance, the Ohlone College Foundation offers more than $20,000 in scholarships per semester exclusively for Ohlone College students. Scholarships are available for all majors. You may apply online at Ohlone College Foundation Scholarships.

Important Reminder

Payment arrangements must be made within 5 calendar days of your most recent registration activity or you may be dropped due to non-payment.

To assist you in meeting your financial obligations, Ohlone College offers a payment plan option that allows you to pay for your tuition fees through installments.

Students need to make sure when they choose a payment plan that they have dropped any classes they do not plan on attending

Students will be held financially responsible for all classes they are registered for.

Details about this alternative option are provided in the billing portion of the WebAdvisor registration process.

Students with pending Financial Aid requests (submitted FAFSA) are waived from deregistration.
