This Northern California Women's Caucus for Art theme show is ongoing and has exhibited at 4 venues in the last 3 years: Nexus Gallery, Berkeley; California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco; Santa Clara University Art History Gallery and now the Louie Meager Art Gallery. It gathers momentum with new artists joining and new artworks submitted with each new venue. Women artists do not live in ivory towers. We are concerned deeply with the violence that permeates all aspects of our lives.

Northern California Women's Caucus for Art

Brief history of the professional women's artist group, Women's Caucus for Art, a national organization started in the late 1960's at the annual national college art association convention where academic and museum art professionals present new art history publications and studio artist professors give lectures and exhibits. The Northern California chapter of the national group will be featured.

Tony May: My Meager Retrospective

The well known artist, Tony May, Fine Arts Professor Emeritus, San Jose State University works in a variety of 2-D and 3-D media. His art often takes the form of site-responsive installations and leans strongly towards the quasi- functional and the whimsical. Paintings, sculpture, project maquettes including the Louie Art Gallery and site installation documentation are included. Tony May's credits include museums, and galleries on the California, national and international levels.

Dias de los Muertos

  • Friday, October 27 - Friday, November 10

In honor of the Mexican celebration of their ancestors, the gallery presents an ofrenda with authentic artifacts.

Experimental Visions

  • Friday, December 8, 2006 - Thursday, January 18, 2007
  • Opening Reception: Friday, December 8, 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Different photographers with unique visions all come together to experiment with both traditional and modern developing techniques from the past and present day. The only way to experience a new art form is to experiment with it.
