David McLaughlin: Paintings
Friday, January 26 - Tuesday, February 27
- Wednesday, February 21: Reception 6:30pm - 7:30pm; Artist Talk 7:30pm - 8:30pm
McLaughlin's paintings are multi-level expressions that draw the observer into a world of altered realism through suggestion, symbolism, and metaphor via the subtle use of light, space, color and contrast. His subjects are gleaned from his love of land and skyscape. He explores personality through personal possessions. As a world traveler with his wife Penny, he records the essence of a locale, often injecting myth and drama. At Ohlone College, (1967-1999), he was the first professor in the new art department, where he taught Painting, Art History, Drawing, and co-founded the art gallery.
