Lady Eagles Add California Guard for 2009-2010 Season
Press release, June 16, 2009 - "Coach Walsh and his staff are excited to announce the addition of Cassie Bates from Fremont, CA. Bates is a 5'8" point guard from Ohlone College and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Cassie helped guide the Women's Basketball team to a perfect 12-0 conference record and an overall 19-12 record. The Renegades lost in the "Sweet 16" of the California Junior College state playoffs." Ohlone College Renegades to host the Northern California Super-Regional Baseball Championships
Press release, May 14, 2009 - The Ohlone College Renegades (37-9) will host this year’s Northern California Super-Regional Championships. The Renegades earned the #1 seed in the Northern California Playoffs by finishing the regular season 35-9 overall and 20-5 in conference. The Renegades won their first outright Coast Conference-Pacific Division Championship in 18 years, and were ranked #1 in Northern California for seven straight weeks during the season. The Renegades also received National recognition in 2009 – PERFECT GAME Baseball had Ohlone ranked as high as #4 in the country and currently ranks the Renegades #6. Ohlone College announces new Women's Basketball Head Coach for 2009-2010 Season
Press release, April 20, 2009 - Athletic Director Chris Warden announces new Women’s Head Basketball Coach for Ohlone College. Chris said today that three year assistant coach Julia Allender would be fulfilling the role of Head Coach for the 2009-2010 season. “There were a lot of qualified applicants, but Julia has the entire package that I was looking for to take this program to the next level” said Warden. Ohlone Baseball excelled in the classroom in Spring 2008 finishing second in the state with a team GPA of 3.12!
Athletics is an academic program that produces significant student learning outcomes that relate directly to success in life. The Athletics Program aims to support student success in accomplishing these learning outcomes as well as monitoring and reaching a variety of academic achievement goals including GPA, course and program completion, and transfer. The student learning outcomes related to Athletics include the following:
- Engage and interact in team membership.
- Assist in achieving common goals and objectives of the team.
- Value the connection between preparation for and execution of work.
- Realize the value of effective leadership skills.
- Exhibit how accountability, commitment, and sacrifice relate to the pursuit of personal and/or team goals.
- Promote physical health and wellness.
- Handle adversity and discouragement as well as success with dignity.
- Demonstrate an acceptance and appreciation for diversity of a team.
Coast Conference
Ohlone College is a member of the Coast Conference of the California Association of Community Colleges. This conference competes against colleges that are located throughout the Greater Bay Area, including regions such as Santa Cruz, Gilroy, Monterey, San Jose, and San Francisco.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements can be found on the California Community College Athletics Association's (CCCAA) website at www.coasports.org. These requirements include active enrollment in the college with a minimum of 12 units (9 academic), have never played professionally in their interested sport, and have a current sports physical on file with the Athletic Trainer.
Students who are interested in participating in an intercollegiate sport should contact the respective sport coach or the Athletics Department Office for further information.
