Day two of Super Regionals complete - Team News, 2012 Ohlone College Renegades Men's Baseball

By Chris Warden, Athletic Director, Ohlone College.

The Ohlone Baseball team put up a great fight, but after the final pitch they were on the wrong side of the scoreboard. I want to give both the coaching staff and the student athletes a huge congratulations for making it this far. Keeping this in perspective…they were one of 16 teams in the entire state of California still playing community college baseball. Well done guys…well done.

Now for great news!

The Ohlone Softball team came out on top today when they played the number 2 seeded College of San Mateo. It seemed that from the very first pitch, this was going to be a tough game. The score was neck and neck, all the way to the very last inning, where the lady renegades were down, 2-1. In order to stay alive, they needed to at least score one to tie, and if the stars and moons were lined up, bring two home for the win. Well, in true Ohlone fashion, and with a runner on base, the next batter hits a home run. This is what we call, a walk off 2-run homer!!

Congratulations ladies!!

Now, by way of additional games that have already played today, the next game for the Lady Renegades will be tomorrow at 12:00pm against Sierra College. Because Sierra has already lost one time during this series (to Ohlone), Ohlone only needs to beat them once. So, send all your good vibes and positive mojo to the Ladies and hope for one game. But, if Ohlone loses their first game tomorrow, they will have a second chance to beat Sierra again.

I'm pushing for, "One and Done".

If the Ladies are victorious tomorrow…they will be off to the State Championship Series in Bakersfield next week. First game of that series is on Friday, May 18 (Ohlone College Graduation day).
