Eric Gleese was almost perfect for the Ohlone College baseball team on Saturday in Fremont.
Gleese went the distance in the 4-0 triumph for the Renegades against conference foe Cabrillo College. The victory helped his team improve to 14-14 overall and 9-7 in the Pacific division of the Coast Conference.
The Seahawks were off-balance all day and it showed in the statistics. Gleese collected seven strikeouts in nine innings of work only allowing five hits and three walks on the day.
Ohlone slugger LJ Kalawaia continued to have an impressive sophomore season tallying three hits in four plate appearances.
"One thing that I focus on as a hitter is studying what the pitcher has to offer," Kalawaia said. "I think the most important thing for me is to stay confident, relaxed and trust the batting techniques I have learned throughout practices."
Renegade catcher Aeryk Hernandez also had a great day at the plate for Ohlone, driving in two runs and scoring once as well.
Ohlone first baseman Jesse Sepulveda drove in the other run for the Renegades in the first shutout of the year for the Renegades.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Renegades exploded for three runs.
