2014 Coach Biography: Chris Perry Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator - Ohlone College Renegades Men's Baseball
Coach Perry enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Ohlone Renegades. Over the past nine years, he has coached at the high school and club level. Prior to coming to Ohlone, Coach Perry spent six seasons as the head coach at Leigh High School. During those years, he guided the Longhorns to five Central Coast Section playoff berths, including one trip to the final four (2008) and two 20-win plus seasons (2008, 2011). Coach Perry saw 25 players move on to the collegiate ranks, three earning a division-one roster spot (Matt Brady, Tyler Christian & Sam Delaplane). He also saw 25 players earn All-League recognition for their performance on the field.
Prior to Leigh, Coach Perry lived in Fresno, CA, where he was an assistant coach under Head Coach Mike Curran at Washington Union High School. During his time there, he helped guide the Panthers to a league championship and they reached the Central Section semi-finals twice (’06, ’07). Coach Perry was also an assistant for Coach Curran on the California Blaze Baseball Club. While in school, he earned his living by being a baseball instructor and camp coordinator at Fresno World of Baseball for three years.
As a player, Coach Perry pitched for Yuba Community College in Marysville, CA after attending Lindhurst High School. After redshirting his first year as a college player, he went on to have a successful career at Yuba, going 11-4 as a starting pitcher in two years, which resulted in him earning All-League recognition his sophomore year and a baseball scholarship to play at New Mexico Highlands University. After his career came to an end, he came back to California to finish his Bachelor's degree in 2006 in Kinesiology at California State University, Fresno. Coach Perry then received a California Teaching Credential in 2007 and also holds his Master's degree in Coaching Education through Ohio University (2012).
As well as coaching at Leigh, he was also the Athletic Director for four years and is currently still a Physical Education teacher there.
Coach Perry resides in San Jose with his wife, Marisa, and their son Jacob (2).
