Ohlone, the number-one ranked team in the Northern California Regional Tournament for community colleges, eked out a nail-biter against the 16th-seeded Chabot Gladiators Saturday afternoon, 11-10 in 12 innings, to advance to the Super Regional next weekend.

Ohlone, who was acting as the road team, albeit on their home field, for Game 2 of the best of three series (Ohlone took Game 1 on Friday, 9-2), stepped to the plate entering the ninth inning down two runs, 10-8. With a runner on and one out, Jeff Johnson knocked his state-leading 19th homer, his second of the game, to tie the score and send it into extras.

In the 12th after a double play, Ryan Harmon stepped to the plate and singled home Braxton Miller from third with to push Ohlone in front for good.

Ian Hoff pitched an easy 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half of the inning to secure the win for the Renegades. Hoff pitched seven and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen for the Renegades to get the win, his ninth on the campaign.

After Chabot jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, Ohlone scored the next seven runs with two in the third, three in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Chabot bounced back with six runs of their own in the fifth to take a 9-7 advantage. Ohlone grabbed one back in the seventh and Chabot tacked on their 10th and final run of the game in the eighth before Johnson's ninth-inning heroics.

Ohlone swept the best of three series from Chabot, 2-0, and advances to the Northern California Super Regional next weekend which, as the top seed, they will host. The Super Regional will feature four teams in a double-elimination format, and will run from Friday through Sunday next weekend. Schedule and teams are not yet determined.
