June 18, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Before he even threw a pitch this season, Ohlone College pitcher Roberto Padilla knew what was on the line. Having already committed to San Jose State University, the lanky left hander had grown accustomed to what was going on around him. Fragulia & Holmstrom Named to the Coast Conference-Pacific Division All Academic Team

June 11, 2010 - Ohlone College sophomores Kyle Holmstrom and Jon Fragulia were recently named to the Coast Conference – Pacific Division ALL-Academic team for 2010. This award is given to players within the conference that earn a 3.2 GPA or higher during their 2 spring semesters. Both Holmstrom and Fragulia are deciding between 4-year university’s that they will attend in the fall of 2010. Ohlone College Pitcher Joe Gardner Named in the Top 20 Most “Important Players” in the Indians Rebuilding Plan

June 3, 2010 - Whether the Indians want to admit it to you or not, we all know they are trying to rebuild from a team that just three seasons ago were one win away from the World Series. … Gardner in six starts a Lake County went 1-0 with 38 strikeouts and just 11 walks. He was moved up to Kinston in early May, and is 2-0 in four starts with 20 strikeouts and 12 walks. May 23, 2010 - Ohlone College's offensive surge that has powered its way through the postseason carried the Renegades to their first California Community College Athletic Association state championship on Sunday with a 16-10 win over College of San Mateo at Fresno City College's John Euless Ballpark. Ohlone Baseball advances to the State Tournament

May 19, 2010 - The 2010 Ohlone Baseball team won the CCCAA Super-Regional tournament this past weekend with wins over Merced College (2-1) on Friday, Diablo Valley College (10-6) on Saturday, and a double header against Chabot College on Sunday. Sunday's first game was 9-8 and the Championship Game was a 3-1 victory. It was a great weekend with some great baseball!

The Renegades will now move on to Fresno, the site of the California Community College State Championship Tournament. Download the 2010 CCCAA Baseball State Championship bracket (PDF). The games are played at John Euless Field at Fresno City College.

May 18, 2010, Ft. Meyers, FL—Perfect Game Baseball has released their latest JC National poll (PDF) and the Ohlone Renegades ranked #9 (highest in California). The Renegades have a (34-10) overall record and will compete this weekend in Fresno, CA for the CCCAA State Championship.

Ohlone defeats Chabot twice to advance

May 16, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (34-10) are headed to the California Final Four state championships in Fresno. Ohlone defeated Merced College on Friday 2-1, lost to Chabot 6-2 and defeated DVC 10-6 on Saturday to advance to Sunday. Ohlone College baseball team beats Chabot twice to advance to state JC championships

May 16, 2010, Inside Bay Area - After having emerged from losers bracket play in the California Community College Athletic Association NorCal Super Regional, Ohlone College had to beat Chabot twice on Sunday to advance to next weekend's state baseball championship playoffs. By late afternoon, the Renegades had done just that with a 3-1 win in the second game that followed a 9-8 victory in the first. All the action took place on Ohlone's home field. May 8, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades defeated the Modesto Pirates on Saturday by a score of 8-7 to advance to the Super Regional’s. Ohlone will host the a super regional for the 2nd time in as many years. Ohlone will host Diablo Valley College, Chabot College, and Merced College. May 8, 2010, Contra Costa Times - Left-hander Roberto Padilla tossed a two-hit shutout as host Ohlone College cruised to a 9-0 win over Modesto in the first game of the California Community College Athletic Association regional baseball playoffs in Fremont on Friday. State Baseball Tournament - Regional Round 1 Playoffs, May 7-8 at Ohlone

May 7-8, 2010 - The Ohlone College Baseball team has put together another fine season in 2010. Ohlone finished with a 28-8 overall record and 20-5 in Coast Conference play!

Your Renegades have been given the #3 Seed in Northern California for this year’s state tournament. Ohlone will host the #14 seed Modesto Junior College this upcoming Friday, May 7 at 2:00pm on the Fremont Campus. Game 2 of the California Regional’s will be played on Saturday May 8 at 11:00am, and a Game 3 - if necessary - at 2:00pm Saturday afternoon. Ticket information.

May 4, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone College will also be taking part in the post-season festivities, as a number-three seed, and taking on 14th-seeded Modesto. More importantly, the Renegades will be coming into the tourney with a ton of momentum, currently riding a nine-game winning streak. TCV Male Athlete of the Month, May 2010: Zach Johnson

May 2010, Tri-City Voice - Last year, his twin brother Jeff led the state in homeruns, along with helping lead the Ohlone baseball team to their first Coast Conference Pacific title in nearly two decades. This year, it's Zach's turn. San Ramon native Zach Johnson has done everything imaginable to lead the Renegades to its second consecutive playoff appearance. From batting a team high .417 with 11 homers and 38 RBIs, to flipping over dugout fences to catch a pop-fly in foul territory, he's become an crucial part of the Renegades success in these two seasons thus far. April 29, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades finished off the regular season in style on Friday by beating the Gavilan College Rams 14-5. The win was extra special as Ohlone celebrated the careers of the class of 2010. Before the game, each sophomore was given tribute and announced in front of many Renegade friends and family. April 27, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (27-8, 19-5) defeated the visiting Monterrey Peninsula Lobos by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. April 27, 2010 - On a wet Tuesday affair, the Ohlone Renegades defeated the host Hartnell Panthers by a score of 11-8. With the victory, Ohlone moves to 26-8 on the year and 18-5 in Coast Conference play. Mark Mercer returned to the starting pitcher role and performed very well. April 27, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Sitting in second place in the Coast Conference Pacific, Ohlone College had a perfect week, going 3-0 and upsetting the conference-leading Canada College on Saturday, April 24, to pull within three games of Canada with three games left on the schedule. April 22, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (24-8, 16-5) defeated the Cabrillo Seahawks by a score of 12-3 on Tuesday. Justin Kuks earned the victory and moved to (3-0) on the season. Kuks threw 6 complete innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits and struck out 4 Cabrillo batters. Renegades handle Skyline for fourth straight win

April 22, 2010, Ohlone College Monitor - All it took was four pitches for the Ohlone baseball team to take control of Skyline in their 12-6 win over the Trojans in San Bruno. After Steven Ramos and Cody Foster opened the game with back to back singles, third-baseman Zach Johnson capitalized on the opening surge with a three-run home run, giving Ohlone the early 3-0 lead. April 21, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone College had a successful week, beginning with an 8-3 win over West Valley College. Matt Fontane (4-2) was the winning pitcher for the Renegades, who scored four runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth. Zach Johnson had two hits, including a fifth-inning homerun with a base runner aboard, two RBIs and scored twice. Michael Ussery's two hits were a double and a seventh-inning solo homer, and he drove in two runs.

The Renegades continued their winning streak with a 13-7 win over San Jose, and a 4-1 win over Cabrillo. Ohlone finished the week in second place in the Coast Conference Pacific division with a 14-5 conference record, 22-8 overall. The Renegades trail first place Ca–ada College by four games.

TCV Male Athlete of the Month, April 2010: Roberto Padilla

April 2010, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone left-hander Roberto Padilla is quite possibly one of the more dominant pitchers in the Coast Conference Pacific. The San Jose State bound sophomore leads the CCP in ERA (2.22), wins, (8), is tied for second in complete games (2) and is second in innings pitched (56.2 IP). March 30, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (18-6, 10-3) defeated the visiting Consumnes River Hawks on Tuesday 4-3 in 13 innings. Justin Kuks started the game on the mound for Ohlone and was lights out for 7 innings. Kuks struck out 5 Hawk batters as he cruised for the 3rd straight outing. March 29, 2010 - On an overcast day, Roberto Padilla and the Ohlone Renegades shined bright as they beat the #4 ranked San Mateo Bulldogs 4-2. Padilla threw a complete game gem as he moved to 8-1 on the season. The sophomore scattered 5 hits, allowed 0 earned runs, and struck out 7 Bulldog batters. March 27, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (16-6, 9-3) defeated the City College San Francisco Rams by a score of 6-1 on Saturday. Freshman George Asmus earned the victory by pitching 8 solid innings. George only allowed 1 run over those 8 innings and struck out 6 Ram batters. Freshman Cody Honea closed out the 9th by getting a ground out, a pop up, and then finally striking out the final batter. March 23, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (14-6, 7-3) defeated the visiting Hartnell Panthers by a score of 18-1 on Tuesday. Sophomore Justin Kuks (1-0) dominated the Panther bats by pitching 8 innings, scattering 6 hits, allowing only 1 run, and struck out 3 Hartnell batters. The dominant outing was the second in a row for right hander, pitched 7 strong innings against Skyline last week. March 25, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (15-6, 8-3) came back from 3 runs down to defeat the host Monterrey Peninsula College Lobos on Thursday. Sophomore Roberto Padilla earned the victory by pitching 4.1 innings of dominating relief for the Renegades. Freshman Matt Fontaine led the Renegades to victory by pitching 8 1/3 innings, scattering 6 hits, allowing only 2 runs, and striking out a team high 13 batters. March 7, 2010 - The Ohlone College Renegades (10-3, 3-0) swept their first week of Coast-Pacific Conference play in dominating fashion. After a 10-1 victory over the visiting Gavilan Rams, Ohlone went on the road to take 2 games. On Friday, Ohlone defeated the De Anza Dons 13-1. March 4, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (8-3, 1-0) defeated the Gavilan Rams on Thursday by a score of 10-1. Mark Mercer improved to (2-1) on the year by pitching 7 strong innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The Renegades were led offensively by Jeff Johnson (3 for 5, 2b, 2 RBI’s, 1 run scored) and Michael Ussery (2 for 4, 3b, 2 RBI’s, 1 run scored), and Michael Briseno (2 for 4, 3b, 2 runs scored). February 8, 2010 - The 2010 Ohlone College Renegades baseball team won their opening game of 2010 by a score of 14-2 over #5 ranked Diablo Valley College. Sophomore Roberto Padilla earned his first win of the year by pitching 5.1 innings, striking out 7 Viking batters, and giving 0 runs on 4 hits. Sophomore Signs Scholarship to Play with the Spartans

December 1, 2009, Fremont, CA - Ohlone college baseball sophomore pitcher Roberto Padilla headlines the early class for the San Jose State Spartan’s as one of the most hotly-pursued left-handers in the California junior college system, having received interest from Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and Fresno State, among others. He went 4-4 with a 3.66 ERA in 2009, making 12 starts among 15 appearances, with one complete game. He struck out 59 and walked 32 over 83.2 innings pitched. August 20, 2009, Fremont, CA - Former University of Hawaii assistant coach Julian Russell has been hired as an Infield coach and hitting instructor for the Ohlone College baseball team, head coach Jordon Twohig announced Friday.
