Late Inning Heroics Propel Ohlone past San Mateo

Ohlone scores 8 times in the 9th

February 24, 2010 - On a day where San Mateo dominated for 26 outs, it was the 27th that decided the outcome of the game. The Ohlone Renegades (6-2, 0-0) defeated the host San Mateo Bulldogs by a score of 10-9 on Wednesday. Freshman George Asmus earned the victory by pitching 5 innings of stellar relief. George only allowed 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 5 Bulldog batters. Freshman Alika Pruett earned his first save on the year by getting the final two outs of the bottom of the 9th. Ohlone's Offense Combines for 26 Runs in 18 Innings!

February 20, 2010 - The Ohlone Renegades (5-2, 0-0) won both games of a double header against Sacramento City College on Saturday. Ohlone won game 1, 9-5, and then took game 2 in convincing fashion, 17-2. Freshman Matt Fontaine (1-1) earned the victory in Game 1 by pitching 7 innings, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits, and struck out 3 Panther batters. Sophomore Roberto Padilla (3-0) earned his third victory of the season by throwing 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, and striking out 6 batters. Renegades tame Sac City in doubleheader

Mark Mercer earns first collegiate victory

February 11, 2010 - On an overcast day in Santa Rosa, Ca, Sophomore Zach Johnson and Freshman Mark Mercer shined as they led the Renegades to an 8-3 victory. Mercer started the game on the mound and threw 6 complete innings, giving up 5 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 4 Bear Cub batters. Roberto Padilla earns first win of the year

February 8, 2010 - The 2010 Ohlone College Renegades baseball team won their opening game of 2010 by a score of 14-2 over #5 ranked Diablo Valley College. Sophomore Roberto Padilla earned his first win of the year by pitching 5.1 innings, striking out 7 Viking batters, and giving 0 runs on 4 hits. Ohlone Baseball ranks high in preseason polls

February 1, 2010 - The Ohlone baseball team has earned a national ranking in both the Perfect Game National Preseason Top 50, as well as the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll. Twohig, No. 19 Ohlone ready for 2010

Padilla Signs with San Jose State

Sophomore Signs Scholarship to Play with the Spartans

December 1, 2009, Fremont, CA - Ohlone college baseball sophomore pitcher Roberto Padilla headlines the early class for the San Jose State Spartan’s as one of the most hotly-pursued left-handers in the California junior college system, having received interest from Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and Fresno State, among others. He went 4-4 with a 3.66 ERA in 2009, making 12 starts among 15 appearances, with one complete game. He struck out 59 and walked 32 over 83.2 innings pitched. November 21, 2009, Fremont, CA - The 2009 baseball season was filled with many great moments on the field such as winning the coast conference championship, and winning a regional championship. November 12, 2009 - This year’s 2009 Ohlone College Athletics Male Athlete of the year is sophomore baseball player Ian Hoff. This past spring Ohlone College Baseball had one of the best seasons in its 39 year history. The team broke the single season record for wins with 37, hosted the Northern California Super-Regional’s for the 1st time ever, and was ranked as high as #3 in the nation according to PERFECT GAME Baseball. Julian Russell Named New Assistant Coach

Will Also Serve As Infield Coach and Hitting Instructor

August 20, 2009, Fremont, CA - Former University of Hawaii assistant coach Julian Russell has been hired as an Infield coach and hitting instructor for the Ohlone College baseball team, head coach Jordon Twohig announced Friday.
