Three Ohlone Players Commit Sign National Letter of Intent

Fremont, CA — George Asmus, Matt Fontaine and Ryan Tella have committed during the early signing period to three well-established baseball programs.

Asmus, sophomore pitcher, committed to the Washington Huskies of the PAC-10 Conference. The Huskies are led by Head Coach Lindsay Meggs, who won two DII National Championships at Chico State and turned Indiana State into a winning baseball program before taking over at UW. Asmus will be reunited with former Ohlone Head Coach, Jordon Twohig, who is currently an assistant coach at UW.

Fontaine, sophomore pitcher, will be a Fresno State Bulldog in 2012, the Bulldogs are currently a member of the Western Athletic Conference, winning four consecutive conference championships between 2006-2009 and a historical run to capture a National Championship in 2008 under the guidance of Head Coach Mike Batesole.

Ryan Tella, freshman outfield, has signed with SEC powerhouse Auburn University. The 2010 Tigers won the regular season Western Division Title and ended the season ranked 19th nationally with a record of 43-21. In only his second season, Head Coach John Pawlowski led the Tigers to the SEC Tournament and hosted a Regional Championship.
