Fairfield, CA—Ohlone started the weekend facing San Mateo with both teams putting up impressive numbers, holding off the Bulldogs 16-15 in 11 innings. Joel Thys led the way for the Renegades going 5 for 6, HR, 2 RBI, 2 Runs. Matt Owen, Kainoa Crowell, Christian Weeber, Rich Bermudez and Cody Demera all had two hits apiece.

Ohlone put the 3 runs on the board in the top of the 2nd. Weeber started the inning with a double off the right field wall only to be called out at third after trying to stretch the hit into a triple. Bermudez singled and Thys singled to right with Bermudez scoring on a wild throw by the right fielder. Demera doubled to left to score Thys. Christian Richards reached first after a throwing error by the shortstop, scoring Demera.

The 3rd inning started with a Ryan Tella walk, Matt Owen hit by pitch. Kainoa Crowell moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd on a sac fly. Weeber singled to score Tella and Matt Owen scored on a wild throw by the right fielder, making the score, 5-0 Ohlone after 3 innings.

San Mateo put a run up in the 4th and Ohlone answered back in top 5th. Crowell started the inning with a single. Thys, Chaidez, Demera and Richards picked up a RBI apiece making the score, 9-1 Ohlone.

The Renegades scored 4 runs in the 6th and led 13-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th. San Mateo rallied scoring 7 runs closing the lead to 13-10.

Ohlone again answered back with two runs in top 7th with a two out, 2 RBI double by Crowell extending the lead 15-10, only to have San Mateo score 2 runs in the bottom half of the 7th cutting the lead down to 15-12.

Ohlone would go scoreless in the 8th and gave the Bulldogs an opportunity to come back in the bottom 8th scoring 3 runs and tying the back and forth game at 15 apiece.

San Mateo had a chance in bottom 9th with a lead off hit and sac bunt. An intentional walk put runners at 1st and 2nd with one out, but they could not capitalize, flying out to the Brandon Arata for the second out and the 9th ended with a ground ball to Chaidez, extending the game to extra innings.

Thys started the 10th with a single through the right side and after a failed sac bunt attempt by Ohlone, Cody Demera came to bat and hit a deep ball to left-center with the go-ahead run at first the Renegades decided to chance the ball dropping, only to be denied with a diving catch by the Bulldog center-fielder, doubling up Thys at first and ending the top 10th.

Arata kept the momentum going for Ohlone in bottom 10th, facing three batters and striking out two.

Ohlone put up one run in top 11th with a one out walk to Tella who advanced to second on a throwing error by pitcher. Matt Owen took advantage, doubling to center field and scoring Tella for the go-ahead run.

Ryan Devencenzi took the mound bottom 11th with runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs. A sac fly put moved the runners over and an intentional walk loaded the bases with one out. An infield fly gave the Renegades two outs. The game ended with a sinking line drive and a shoelace, roll over catch by a shallow playing left fielder, Matt Owen. Ryan Devencenzi picked up the save, Brandon Arata with the win and the Renegades advanced in the winners bracket for Game #2 by a score of 16-15.
