The Information Center in the Lobby of the first floor of Building 1 on the Fremont campus functions as the first point-of-contact for students
to access student services or other administrative offices.
It is a “first stop” place to get help and referrals across campus.

Computer kiosks for WebAdvisor access are available in the Information Center which allow students to register for classes, add or drop classes, check their grades, and use other features of WebAdvisor.

The Office of Admissions and Records provides students with registration assistance, transcripts and enrollment verifications; and degree and certification processing.
WebAdvisor provides access to student accounts around the clock.
Admissions and Records information and many forms are available on the Admissions and Records website. Students may also email questions to admissions@ohlone.edu.
Drop Box service is available in the Building 1 Lobby on the Fremont campus and on the Newark campus. Window hours on the Fremont campus are extended at the start of each semester and hours may be reduced around holidays. Hours for the Fremont campus are posted outside the Office of Admissions and Records, on the Admissions and Records website, by telephone at (510) 659-6100, and in the printed Class Schedule.
Official Transcripts and Enrollment Verifications are normally produced within three to five business days. Students should allow for additional processing time during registration periods. Express transcripts are not available during peak registration periods.

Sport teams for Fall Semester include women's golf, men's and women's soccer; women's volleyball; men's and women's basketball; and men's and women's water polo.

Books, supplies, and Student Semester Parking Permits may be purchased at the Ohlone College Bookstore located on the first floor of Building 5 on the Fremont campus and online using the Ohlone Bookstore website. Cash, personal checks, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted. Legal ID and proof of registration are required for all checks.
Store hours are subject to change pending class offerings. Please check store postings and the Ohlone College Bookstore website for store hours.
Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology
Textbooks for classes taught at the Newark Center, semester parking permits, and supplies may be ordered online on the Ohlone College Bookstore website or purchased through the Ohlone College Bookstore on the Fremont campus. Refer to the Bookstore information on the Newark Center website for more information.
Online Orders
Books may be ordered online on the Ohlone College Bookstore website and picked up at the Fremont campus Bookstore or mailed to the student's home. A shipping charge will be added for home deliveries. For complete details about the online program, visit the Ohlone College Bookstore website.
Book Buybacks
From May 15-23 for Spring 2009 Semester the Bookstore at the Fremont campus will buy back most of this semester's textbooks bought during the semester. Times will be posted on the entry doors to the Bookstore and on the Ohlone College Bookstore website. If the textbook has been ordered by the instructor for use in the upcoming semester, up to 50% of the purchase price will be given (with some exceptions, as posted in the Bookstore). If the textbook has not been ordered by the instructor, the current wholesale value as determined by used book wholesalers will be paid.
Bookstore Check Acceptance Policy
Checks are cashed for the amount of purchase only. However, Associated Students of Ohlone (ASOC) cardholders are permitted to cash checks for $10 over the amount of purchase. The following information is required for all checks:
- Class registration slip with current address showing current enrollment in classes at Ohlone College.
- Ohlone College student ID number.
- Current California driver's license or California ID with an address matching the address on the check.
- Name and current street address imprinted on the check. P.O. box addresses are not accepted.
- Telephone number must be printed or written on the check.
There is a $35 service charge for any check returned to the Bookstore for insufficient funds.
Bookstore Refund Policy
Refunds will be granted in full when the following conditions are met.
- Purchases must be brought to the counter, located at the store entrance.
- Cash register receipt is required. No refunds or exchanges are allowed without a receipt.
- New textbooks must be in mint condition. If they contain markings, student's name, or any damage, the refund allowance will be the used book purchase price, provided the title is eligible to be sold as a used book. Books and merchandise must be returned in the original, unopened packaging.
- The last day for a full refund on Spring 2009 textbooks purchased on or after January 5, 2009 is February 6, 2009 or two days after purchase, whichever is later. No refunds will be given on books purchased on or after November 3, 2008 for Fall 2008 and April 17, 2009 for Spring 2009. The last day for a full refund or exchange on non-textbook items is two days after purchase.
- For purchases made by check, merchandise must be returned within the time limits specified; however, a cash refund will not be given until the check has cleared the bank. A voucher will be given at the time of the return and may be used for exchanges or it may be returned for cash after 15 working days from the date of purchase. Credit vouchers are void after 60 days or if lost or stolen.
Bookstore Refund Exceptions
No refunds or exchanges will be given on catalogs, magazines, computer hardware, software, computer diskettes, zip disks, food items, health/beauty aids, sale/discounted merchandise, or special orders.

Student Activity Fee
The $5 Student Activity Fee funds campus activities and
events such as dances, bands, Orientation, food events, clubs, art
and music programs, lectures, and elections; production of the
student ID card; allows for discounts to events at the Gary Soren Smith
Center for Fine and Performing Arts and some off-campus stores/events; provides
partial costs of Monitor production; and assists in leadership
scholarships.
- Optional/non-refundable fee ($5 Fall / Spring, $2.50 Summer).
- Students who choose not to support Student Activities must write a response to the form provided by the Campus Activities Office (Building 1, first floor, Window 1140 on the Fremont campus) on or before the last day to drop classes in order to receive a refund. Students may request a form at the Campus Activities Office (Building 1, first floor, Window 1140 on the Fremont campus) or via email at campusactivities@ohlone.edu if they are unable to pick up one.
Student ID Card/Validation

The Associated Students of Ohlone College (ASOC) Student Identification Card is the valid Ohlone College Student ID and proves eligibility for established student discount programs at theaters, symphonies, amusement parks, and many more locations.
A Student ID card, pictures, and validation stickers are available in the Building 1 Lobby on the Fremont Campus. The ID Card Window will be open January 20 through March 20 for Spring 2009 semester, excluding weekends. Dates and hours are posted on the Campus Activities - Student ID Cards web page.
Student Government and Clubs
Student organizations are a vital part of the Ohlone College community. Join the student government association (ASOC) that meets every Tuesday during Fall and Spring Semesters from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Inter Club Council meets every Tuesday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Students may also join an existing club or organize a new club. Honor Society – Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS)
All students who achieve at least a 3.0 GPA after completing 12 units are eligible for membership in Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS), a statewide community college honor society. To find out how to become a member of AGS, email ags@ohlone.edu.

The Ohlone College Police Services, known as Campus Police
Services (CPS) and including Safety and Security, was established
by Board of Trustees Resolution 63-74-75. The officers
are trained, and the training reimbursed, per Commission of
Peace Officer Standards and Training Guidelines, Resolution 66-81-82. The College is committed to full implementation of the
Student Right to Know and Campus Safety Act of 1990.
The responsibilities of CPS include campus security, traffic, parking control, prevention and detection of crime, and enforcement of federal, state, and municipal laws. CPS has the primary responsibility for directing, planning, and controlling vehicle and pedestrian traffic on College grounds. CPS oversees the painting of roadways and curbs, placement of control signs, removal of hazardous obstructions, and other related tasks.

The Cashier Window is located in Building 1, second floor, Room 1211 on the Fremont campus. The Cashier Department takes payments and issues refunds. The Student Receivable Department, an extension of the Cashier, is available to assist students with issues related to the charges on their student account. The Ohlone College Child Development Center is a state-of-the-art 12,000 square foot facility. The Ohlone College
Child Development Center, operated in cooperation with
Kidango, is an emergent learning environment that offers childcare
from infant through prekindergarten (age 5). 
The facility
also houses a teacher training program for students interested
in pursuing a career in Early Childhood Studies.
The program is open Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. The program serves as the Laboratory School for Early Childhood Studies, a preschool as well as complete child care facility. Morning, afternoon, and full day schedules are available for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Tuition assistance is available.

Community Education courses are designed to meet the not-for-credit, continuing education needs of individuals in the Tri-Cities area. No tests or exams are required. CClasses include Notary Public Workshop, SAT Preparation, and many online courses.
Online courses are provided in partnership with Ed2Go and are open to everyone. Over 150 classes are offered. Sample classes include Continuing Education for Teachers, Master the Fundamentals of Accounting, Creating Web Pages; Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, and Publisher; and Test Prepration classes, such as GMAT, GRE, SAT, LSAT, and many more.
Courses are project-oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas, supplemental links, and more. Students can complete any of these courses entirely from their home or office and at any time of the day or night.

Ohlone for Kids are special classes designed for students going into grades 4-10. Students practice critical thinking skills and enjoy
a variety of activities including arts, computers, math, reading, and
writing. Classes meet during summer break and new classes are being developed for spring recess as well.
The Community Education and Ohlone for Kids programs are
self-supporting and receive no taxpayer funding. Fees from participants
pay for all classes and workshops.

Counselors assist students individually and in groups to discuss
academic, career, social, and personal counseling matters. Counselors also work with students to develop individualized Student Education Plans (SEP). 
Additionally,
special workshops and classes are offered to help with
other college related concerns.
Student Success Program
Students who are on academic or progress probation, subject to dismissal, and/or dismissal standing will be monitored by counselors. The Counseling Department utilizes workshops, individual appointments, Personal Development classes, unit limitations, progress reports, and other services to help students succeed.

Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) provides specialized placement, orientation, counseling, and registration to Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Learning Disabled, and any other students with disabilities. Special services, including special parking permits, are also available through this office.

EOPS / CARE / CalWORKs • (510) 659-6152
Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) provide academic and financial support services to low-income students who meet specific program criteria. EOPS services include assistance with the admissions process, academic and personal counseling, and book purchasing assistance for students who meet program requirements.
Additionally, EOPS students who are single parents receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) and who have children under the age of 14 may participate in the CARE and CalWORKS programs. Contact the EOPS Office at (510) 659-6152 for an application and additional information.

The Financial Aid Office is located in Building 1, First Floor on the Fremont campus and in the Student Services Center

waivers, and other aid available, contact the Financial Aid staff or visit the Financial Aid website. Transfer students who were determined eligible for financial aid
at another college should immediately contact the Ohlone College
Financial Aid Office.
Financial Aid Orientation Workshops
To familiarize students with grants, loans, and financial aid processes, the Financial Aid Office has scheduled Financial Aid Orientation. Seating is first-come, first-served and students must sign-in before the Orientation begins. Please allow one hour for the presentation and question and answer period. A list of Financial Aid Orientation times and dates is available online.
Financial Aid FAFSA Workshops
The Ohlone College Financial Aid Office is conducting new and renewal workshops to help students complete their FAFSA online. Students do not need to sign up, but may simply attend a workshop that best fits into their schedule. FAFSA workshop dates, times, and requirements are posted on the Financial Aid website.
PIN Number, Loans, Federal Stafford Loan Program, Board of Governors Waiver (BOGW)
For information about loans, the Federal Stafford Loan Program, completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), loan amounts, applying for a loan, obtaining a PIN number, required documents, and the Board of Governors Waiver (BOGW) Enrollment Fee Waiver Program, visit the Financial Aid website.

Students from many different countries throughout the world pursue academic degree and English language studies at Ohlone College. The International Programs and Services office serves international students who are applying to and attending Ohlone College on the F-1 Student Visa.
The services the International Programs and Services office provides international students and their families include: international admissions; application processing; United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations advisement; international student orientation; Optional Practical Training coordination; and general advisement on transfer to 4-year university.
The office also assists with the administration of Ohlone College’s Study Abroad programs for American and international students.

The Student Health Center is a
collaborative venture with Washington Township Hospital and
the Ohlone Community College District. 
Student Health Fees
pay for primary care, first aid, emergency response on campus,
physical examinations, referral services, and health education
for Ohlone College students. Immunizations, lab work, and X-rays
are provided at a nominal fee. Services are provided by a
licensed nurse practitioner and a physician.
The main Student Health Center is on the Fremont campus in Building 16 and provides services for Fremont and Newark students. 
The Health Center at the Newark campus will provide consultation services for health science students and minimal services for primary care.
Health Services Fee
Ohlone College provides health services for students through the Student Health Center. In accordance with State Community College regulations, all enrolled students will be charged a Health Services Fee of $17 per for Fall and Spring Semesters and $13 for Summer Term. The only exemptions for this fee are as follows:
- Students taking classes held only on Sundays or at off campus locations are not eligible for services and are exempt from the Health Services Fee.
- Students who rely only on prayer for healing in accordance with teachings of a bona fide religious sect, denomination, or organization may seek exemption from the fee and services. To apply for a waiver, students must provide a statement of such reliance from an official of the sect, denomination, or organization to the Student Health Center at least one week prior to their registration dates.Waivers will not be processed after a student has registered and will not be accepted after February 3, 2009 for Spring 2009 semester.
- Students who are only taking classes which are part of a contract agreement with the Ohlone Community College District.
There are no other exemptions for the Health Services Fee.

Transfer Center
The Transfer Center provides resources to students wishing to explore college and university transfer information. College and university recruiters come to the Transfer Center to meet with prospective students. Students can make an appointment to meet individually with a recruiter in the Transfer Center. Students are encouraged to drop-in at the Transfer Center in Building 1, First Floor, Room 1102C on the Fremont campus.
Ohlone's Transfer Center also includes a resource library with current catalogs from California State University (CSU) campuses, University of California (UC) campuses, and other colleges and universities. Workshops are available on topics such as "CSU and UC Applications - The How-To of Completing a Successful Application," "How To Write the Personal Statement for UC Applications," and others.
Students intending to transfer to four-year colleges and universities may complete their lower division (freshman and sophomore) general education requirements and many lower division major field courses while at Ohlone College. Many courses offered at Ohlone College have been articulated with the University of California, California State Universities, and private institutions. Students are encouraged to seek the advice of their counselor in order to develop a specific transfer plan.
Ohlone College has also established various academic programs with specific campuses of the California State University, University of California, and with some private universities, for example:
- Transfer Admissions Guarantees have been developed with California State University, East Bay; California State University, Monterey Bay; San José State University; University of California, Davis; University of California, Irvine; University of California, Merced; University of California, Riverside; University of California, San Diego; University of California, Santa Barbara; University of California, Santa Cruz; Golden Gate University; and Santa Clara University. Please make an appointment with a counselor to complete a Transfer Admission Guarantee.
- Concurrent Enrollment Programs exist with the University of California, Berkeley and California State University, East Bay.
Transfer Planning
Students intending to transfer to either a California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) campus will need to apply for an official certification of completion of General Education requirements. This request should be made at the Office of Admissions and Records during the term just prior to the intended term of transfer. In addition, students need to request that an official, final transcript is sent to the transfer institution.
Students should see a counselor to determine which General Education program is appropriate for their educational goals. Students are encouraged to meet with a counselor to develope specifica educational plans for transfer. Some sequenced courses (e.g., ENGL-101A-B and MATH-101A-B) may not be accepted in transfer if they have been taken out of sequence.
Career Services
The Student Success Center provides resources to students wishing to explore careers and/or employment. Career testing is available for those students who are undecided about their educational and occupational goals, via the Personal Development classes offered every semester, which include Career Testing Workshop (PD-149), Career Planning (PD-150), and Strategies for Succeeding in College (PD-111 or PD-113).
For students wishing to work in the community, the Student Success Center works with Bay Area employers to receive the best available jobs for students. The online partner, MonsterTrak.com, is a Web-based job listing and career development resource for enrolled students.
For full-time, regular employment, the Student Success Center works in partnership with the One-Stop Career Center.
Students are encouraged to visit the Student Success Center in Building 1, fourth floor, Room 1403 on the Fremont campus to see the services offered.
Tri-Cities One-Stop Career Center

The Tri-Cities One-Stop Career Center, located on the Ohlone College Newark Center campus, is open to all residents of the
community for job search purposes. The One-Stop Career Center offers a wide range
of services including workshops on job search strategies,
assistance with resume writing and interviewing skills. The One-Stop Career Center also provides career assessment and individualized job search support. The resources include
computers with high speed Internet access, phones, labor market information, books, videos, and
newspapers, all to assist job and education seekers to access
the information they need to make wise decisions. The One-Stop Career Center also assists employers in their recruitment
efforts.
All of the services at the Tri-Cities One-Stop Career Center are provided at no cost. The Tri-Cities One-Stop Career Center is a member of East Bay Works, a regional partnership funded by the Department of Labor, the State of California, and Alameda County, designed to coordinate employment activities throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The One-Stop Career Center is a partnership with Ohlone College.

Free tutoring in a wide range of subjects is available in Hyman Hall, Room HH-217, on the Fremont campus. In addition, subject-oriented tutoring is offered in the Accounting, Computer, and Physics labs; the English and Math Learning Centers in Hyman Hall; the Biology Learning Center in Building 8, Room 8318, on the Fremont campus; and in the Chemistry Learning Center in Building 2, Room 8319, on the Fremont campus.
Veteran's Affairs Office • (510) 659-6199
The Office of Veterans Affairs assists veterans and veteran dependents with educational benefit matters. Students needing assistance should visit the Office of Veterans Affairs, located in Building 1, first floor, Room 1124 on the Fremont campus. All previous transcripts and copies of discharge papers (DD214 or 2384 for Reservists) are required for enrolling and receiving Veterans Benefits.
Welcome Day (Fall Semesters)
All new students are invited to participate in this exciting and informative class. Throughout Welcome Day, students will attend interactive workshops and activities to help them make a smooth transition to college. Attending this class is a great way for students to learn about Ohlone, meet other new students, and gain valuable skills.

Welcome Tables

At the beginning of the Fall and Spring Semesters, college personnel at the Fremont and Newark campuses are available at Welcome Tables to give students directions to classrooms and to answer general questions. At the Welcome Tables students have access to the Class Schedule, the Ohlone map, and lists of classes still open for registration.
During Fall Semester, the Welcome Tables are located in front of Building 1 on the Fremont campus and during Spring semester the Welcome Tables are located in the Building 1 Lobby on the Fremont campus.
At the Newark Center campus, Welcome Tables will be located in the lobby of the Central Hub (subject to change but you'll have no trouble finding them!).
Students are encouraged to come to the Welcome Tables to receive assistance during the first few days of the semester.
