Ohlone Ranked 11th in the State in Preseason Poll

6th Annual Jonathan Wallace Basketball Tournament & Tip Off BBQ
The Ohlone College Men’s Basketball team will be holding its 1st Annual Tip Off BBQ next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 6-8, 2009 outside Epler Gymnasium on the Ohlone College Fremont campus. The fundraising BBQ coincides with our home opener, Friday, November 6 in the first round of the 6th Annual Jonathan Wallace Tournament. Peterson begins tenth year on Ohlone's bench
October 29, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - Aside from his impressive 201-81 win-loss record, John Peterson has excelled where other coaches have failed - job security. Leon Hart Signs With Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, KY
July 15, 2009 - Sophomore post Leon Hart (Hayward HS, Hayward, CA) signed a letter of intent with NAIA Division 1 Campbellsville University. Leon becomes the 9th player from the class of 2009 to receive a scholarship at the 4 year level.
Frank Monge Signs With CSU Stanislaus
July 15, 2009 - Ohlone Sophomore Frank Monge (San Juan, Puerto Rico) signed with California State University Stanislaus in Turlock, CA. The 6’11, 245 pound Monge Becomes the 10th player from Ohlone to sign this spring.
Former Renegade Willis Gardner Signs Pro Contract with Russian League Team
July 15, 2009 - PG Willis Gardner, a recent graduate of Colorado State University, has signed a professional contract to play in the Russian Superleague in the Fall. The team, Aviabasket UFA, competes in the first division of the Superleague, which is home to perennial Euroleague power CSKA Moscow. Gardner was a 2 year starter at Colorado State, and was an all state selection and conference MVP at Ohlone.
Eric Pitts Signs With Shaw University
June 2, 2009 - Eric Pitts, the 6’2, 208 lb. combo guard out of Baltimore, MD, has committed to NCAA Division 2 Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. Pitts started over 30 games in his 2 year career, averaging nearly 8 points per game and 4 rebounds. He played a huge role in the Renegades winning their 4th league title since 2003. He was a great team leader and ferociously competitive, and he will be a difficult piece to replace. Shaw University is the oldest historically black university in the South.
Former Renegade Mychal Green Named Player of the Week in New Zealand pro league
June 2, 2009 - Mychal Green, a 2004 graduate of Ohlone College, was recently named the POW in the NBL, New Zealand’s professional pro league. Mychal was a 2 time All Conference player at Ohlone, was Conference MVP as a sophomore and made the All State team in 2004. Mychal averaged 25 points per game and shot over 50% from the field. After Ohlone, he spent 2 years at NCAA Division 1 Ohio University and helped lead them to the NCAA tournament as a junior, scoring 24 points in a first round loss to Florida. This is his second season with the Harbour Heat, who recently qualified for the playoffs.
Tim Bowman Signs with Oklahoma Baptist University
May 22, 2009 - Sophomore PG Tim Bowman (Norristown HS, Norristown, PA) has signed a national letter of intent with perennial NAIA Division 1 power Oklahoma Baptist University. Bowman was the undisputed floor leader for the Renegades, averaging 9 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Best known for taking exceptional care of the ball and being one of the better on ball defenders in California, Tim helped lead Ohlone to a 46 – 19 record over his 2 years. OBU won 28 games last season and finished the year ranked 2nd in the country. They have made it to the Sweet 16 of the national tournament the last 8 years in a row.
Graduation Rates on the Rise!
May 22, 2009 - All nine of the 2008-2009 Ohlone College Sophomores are on track to receive their AA degrees by the end of the summer. The nine are Alpha Ndiaye, Eric Pitts, Frank Monge, Carlos Johnson, AJ Flournoy, Tim Bowman, Matt Wittbrodt. Leon Hart and James Hancock. Should all 9 complete the required courses, that would bring the total graduation rate for players who have remained in the program for a minimum of 2 years or have spent their sophomore year at Ohlone to 94%! 51 out of the 54 have completed all required work!
5 Sign National Letters of Intent
May 13, 2009 - Ohlone basketball coach John Peterson announced today that 5 players from the 2008-2009 Coast Conference Championship team have signed letters of intent and scholarship papers with 4-year schools.
- Sophomore Alpha N’diaye signed with CSU Sacramento (Division 1)
- Sophomore AJ Flournoy signed with NCAA Division 2 powerhouse Metropolitan State College of Denver
- Sophomore James Hancock signed with Point Loma Nazarene (NAIA Division 1)
- Sophomore Matt Wittbrodt signed with Northwood University in Michigan (NCAA D2), and
- Freshman guard Kevan West signed with NAIA D2 Concordia University in Portland
5 other sophomores (Frank Monge, Eric Pitts, Leon Hart, Carlos Johnson and Tim Bowman) will announce their schools of choice in the coming weeks.

May 13, 2009 - By a vote of the Coast Conference North Coaches, the following Ohlone players were named to the All Conference Team:
- AJ Flournoy, Most Valuable Player
- Alpha N’Diaye, 1st team All Conference
- James Hancock, 1st team All Conference
- Tim Bowman, Honorable Mention
- John Peterson, Coach of the Year
