Ohlone Men’s Basketball Heads to Sweet Sixteen
Fremont, CA—For the third year in a row, the Ohlone Renegades advance to the Sweet 16 after an 85 – 63 win over visiting Merritt College. They will host the Reedley College Tigers this Saturday at 7 pm, with the winner going to the Final 8 in Fresno.
This weekend’s opponent finished 2nd in the Central Valley Conference, with a record of 24 – 6 (10 – 2 in conference play, their only losses coming at the hands of top ranked Fresno City). According to Renegade Coach John Peterson (J.P.) “They are a very physical and athletic group and we anticipate a great game.”
Last Saturday against Merritt, Alpha N’Diaye had 19 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks to lead the squad. James Hancock had 19 as well (17 in the second half), Kevan West added 17 (including 5 three pointers) and Tim Bowman and AJ Flournoy each had 11. The win moves the overall record to 25 – 8, tying the mark for second most wins in a season.
The Game is held in the Gymnasium, Building 9, which can be accessed from the Pine Street entrance at the south end of the Ohlone Fremont campus. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students, faculty, staff and seniors.
