Thursday, January 21, 2010.
6’4 Sophomore guard Scott Clark swished 2 free throws with 2.8 seconds left in overtime to lead the ’Gades to a pivotal win on the road. Trailing by as much as 6 with just over 2 to go in OT, the Renegades clawed back with defensive stops and timely baskets to seal the victory.
Cyleb Burton’s corner three cut the lead to 1, 64-63, with 1:20 left. Then following a defensive stop, Lavon Gray’s righthanded putback put Ohlone up 1 with :30 to play. City answered with a Da’Ron Sims tip in at the 8.7 second mark.
Electing to not call a timeout, Clark raced the ball up the court and got fouled going to the rim, setting up the final free throws. Sophomore Reggie Jones led the Renegades in scoring with 21 points (10-16 FG, 7 rebounds), including a layup with 30 seconds left in regulation to tie the game. Clark finished with 19 (12-13 FT) and Lavon Gray had 14 rebounds to go with his 7 points.
