Both Ohlone College basketball teams advanced in their respective postseason tournaments, the men's team beating Shasta, 75-60, and the women defeating Contra Costa, 71-67.

The men, ranked number one in the state, advanced to the Northern Regional Finals of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) playoffs, where they will host Yuba on Saturday, March 6. The winner of that game will go to the eight-team state championship tournament.

All-conference center Reggie Jones scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Renegades against Shasta. Scott Clark also scored 15 for Ohlone. Ronnie Sawyer added 12 and Lavon Grey had 10 points.

The women's team averted defeat when Ganeaya Rogers hit a lay-up with 12 seconds remaining to put Ohlone ahead of Contra Costa in its semifinal match-up. The Renegades had squandered a 15-point lead in the second half but were able to secure the win with Rogers' bucket, followed by her three free throws after an inbounds steal by Ashley Valenzuela.

Jasmine Rubin was Ohlone's leading scorer with 24 points. Rogers had 15 and Jayme Leftridge had 10.
