Biography: Jan Eric Nordmo, Head Coach

Coach Jan Eric Nordmo returns for his second year to the team as head coach of the Ohlone College Men’s Soccer team in March 2010. Jan Eric was previously the first assistant coach at Ohlone (2008). In 2009 Coach Nordmo along with his staff helped pilot the Ohlone team to an impressive 11-9 season. The culminations of which was only two points shy of putting Ohlone into its first post-season play in over a decade. The turnaround to the program was also highlighted by the recognition of three Ohlone players receiving MVP honors and Nordmo having been awarded Conference Division Coach of the Year.
Coach Nordmo has a wealth of experience at all levels from youth to collegiate, amateur and semi-professional. His coaching credentials include the United States Soccer Federation “A” License for over 10 years, the highest achieved coaching credentials in the US. He also has Coaching Certificates from the KNVB (Royal Dutch Soccer Association). In addition to being a licensed coach, he is also a licensed official and serves the state of California (CYSA) as a coaching instructor in the CYSA Coaching School.
Jan Eric’s professional background is also soccer related as businesses that he owns including Off the Wall Soccer, Arena Soccer Centers, Inc., Off the Wall Soccer, Chico Sports Arena LLC and is a co-founder of the Premier Arena Soccer League. He has served as a consultant to several amateur and professional soccer clubs and soccer projects. Additionally he is an instructor for USIndoor’s Certified Arena Operator and member of the Board of Directors and was the Director of Coaching for Los Gatos United Soccer League.
Coach Nordmo has a professional coaching career of over 25 years and has played over 40 years. Recent positions include; Head Coach at Los Gatos High School Varsity Girls Program, Head Coach Apline FC, Head Coach of the State Olympic Development Program (ODP), Region IV ODP Staff Coach and Clinician for the CYSA and several local leagues. Success from Nordmo’s team coaching and playing include league and district titles, state cup semi-finalist, CCS qualifiers and finalists, and US Open Cup Regional Champions. He has coached locally and in Seattle, Washington; he and his teams have participated in both national and internationally events in Mexico, Canada, the UK and Holland.
He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA), US Soccer CoachesNet, and the Rotary Club of Santa Clara. (Jan Eric was the club president of his Rotary Club from 2009-’10.)
Coaching at High Schools, Colleges, Clubs and other programs he has worked with top level athletes as well as beginning players, some of his most successful teams have not only achieved on the field but also in the classroom; recently his Los Gatos team won the Academic Achievement Award presented by the NSCAA. Several of his past players have gone on to play at upper division colleges, regional, national and professional teams. Nordmo is always involved in soccer, from coaching, teaching, learning, sharing and volunteer work, soccer is always somewhere involved.
Jan Eric Nordmo is a graduate of Wilcox HS in Santa Clara, California and the University of Washington in Seattle. He is married (Nicola) with one little boy (Eric) and lives with his family in Los Gatos.
