Opening its first home game away from home, Ohlone played against Feather River at Central Park in Fremont this blistery afternoon.  The field will be Ohlone's home pitch while construction of a new field and stadium at Ohlone College is in process.   The Renegades were up against Nationally ranked Feather River, featuring a host of international players.

The match was back and forth to start both sides getting nerves loosened and exploring the field.  Feather River, however, shook off their nerves early and Ohlone were caught off guard as an errant cleareance was put back into Ohlone territory, and FRC were able to capitalize off a combination play that caught keeper Michael Beigarten off guard and blinded from play by his own back line.  The Ohlone side were still settling in their nerves against a side the just beat West Hills 2-1 earlier in the week.

The Renegades were still developing confidence early on but were not able to mount an effective pressure until later in the first half. The back line for Ohlone was led by Raul Chavez. Greivin Pacheo Quesada (Sophomore) was leading the front assault but was an able to capitalize on several shots.  New comers Jorge Alcaraz and Omar Reyes both looked to add their name to the game along side veterans Hector Romero and Sliver Silva, who did much to keep Feather River away from the Ohlone goal most of the match.

Despite the goal, Ohlone were positive going forward and the adjusted their shape to put more attackers up front and put the pressure on the visiting side.  Ohone had two opening shots in the first half that needed a little inch or two to go in.   FRC had two opportunities midway in the second half that almost put Ohlone down, but, Ohlone put pressure back on the Feather River side with consistent attacks, developing more confidence through the game.

"We are pleased to see our team compete today with a solid side." said Coach Nordmo.  "We always want the win and today we showed we still need some seasoning, but, another bounce here or there and we have points. We are looking forward to a competitive year."
