Team News, 2008 Season - Ohlone College Renegades Men's Soccer

Aghel Saves the Day to Earn Renegades another Point

Tuesday, November 11, 2008.

Fremont, CA – Gavilan College traveled to Ohlone to take on the Renegades and after 90 minutes the match ended in a nil – nil draw.

The match was pretty much a midfield battle during the first half with neither side taking a decided advantage.

The second half however saw a different Ohlone side fire up and out shoot the visiting Rams 10 – 2. Daniel Galloway (Fremont, CA Irvington High School) had perhaps Ohlone’s best chance of the day when he took a cross from Patrick Lee (Fremont, CA Mission San Jose High ) and headed it toward goal only to see the ball carom off of the crossbar in the second half of the match.

With 20 minutes left in the second half Gavilan had a chance for a sure game winner when their striker was brought down in the penalty box and the referee awarded the Rams a penalty kick. Iman Aghel (Mashad, Iran Allamah High School) read the situation perfectly, diving to his right and then proceeded to save the rebound to preserve his fourth shutout of the season.

The Renegades travel Friday to play Skyline College for their final match of the season.
