Zermino Honored as One of the State’s Best

Fremont, CA – During the month of October, Zermino was moved up to striker, and scored 4 goals and chipped in with 3 assists to help Ohlone win 3 of their last 4 matches after a 0-14 start. For his accomplishments, Ohlone Renegade Freshman and Striker Daniel Zermino was honored by the California Community College Athletic Association with an honorable mention for the Athlete of the Month for November 2008.

The CCCAA Athlete of the Month program is coordinated by the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) and the California Community Colleges Athletic Association (CCCAA). The CCCAA represents over 72 schools throughout the state representing more than 1500 male soccer players.

“This is the second time this season that one of our players has been recognized by the state, we have not been as successful in the win/loss column as we would have liked but the recognition that our men are receiving I believe reflects the progress we have made as a team, I am beaming with pride right now” stated Coach Don Williams.

Daniel was a standout athlete from James Logan High School where he anchored the Colts defense and served as team captain his senior year. Daniel is currently second on the Ohlone points list with
