Honors continue for Renegades men as Lee and Aghel are Invited to Sophomore Bowl!
Wednesday, December 3, 2008.
Fremont, CA – Ohlone Co-Captain and starting center back Patrick Lee (Fremont, CA Mission San Jose High) as well as sophomore Goalkeeper Iman Aghel (Mashad, Iran Allamah High School) were invited to the sophomore bowl as part of the college showcase weekend. The sophomore bowl will be held at 11am on Saturday December 6th and honors the top sophomores from the state by showcasing their talents in a north vs. south match. There will be dozens of four year college coaches in attendance as the event also serves as a precursor to Sunday’s state final championship matches.
Ohlone ended the last half of the season very strong with a 3-2-1 record over their final 6 matches and Lee and Aghel were a big part of that success anchoring the Renegades defense.
State honors were bestowed upon Lee and Daniel Zermeno (Union City Ca, James Logan High)earlier in the season as both were named to the athlete of the month for the state, Lee for September and Zermeno for October.
“To have 2 of our men invited to the showcase is extraordinary and speaks volumes for how far this program has come this past season” said Renegades coach Don Williams. “I am very proud of these two young men and our team as a whole.”
