Biography: Jan Eric Nordmo, Assistant Coach

Coach Jan (pronounced Yon) Eric Nordmo has been a fixture in California soccer for over 20 years and enters his first season as 1st assistant at Ohlone College this year.

Jan is a Graduate of the University of Washington with a BA in Psychology, Studies in Civil Engineering / Business Management.

Jan is also the Founder and President of Arena Soccer Centers, Inc., Off the Wall Soccer, Santa Clara, CA which is the largest indoor soccer facility in Northern California as well as running Off the Wall Soccer, Jan also is an owner/partner for Chico Sports Arena LLC.

Jan’s coaching experience began in 1982 and since that time he has been a professional Coach and Trainer.

Jan is heavily involved in the Northern California soccer scene serving as a coaching school instructor as well as a head coach for the California Youth Soccer Association’s and staff coach for the Region IV Olympic Development Program. Some of Jan’s other coaching accomplishments include training and helping to turn a women’s PASL team into national champions in 2004 and serving as the head coach for the Los Gatos High School Girl's Varsity where he boasts a current record of 67-35-26 as well as being a Central Coast Sectional finalists in 2005 & 2008. As a player and coach he also directed Inter SC to the Lamar Hunt Open Cup Region IV finals, being recognized as one of the top amateur men’s clubs in 1997.

Soccer has taken Jan all over the world including traveling in 2000 and 2004 with coaching educational tours through Europe where he attended coaching symposiums at professional and amateur clubs in Holland, Germany, Belgium and Spain the clubs visited include: Ajax, Feynoord, AZ Aklamar, Volendam, Brugge, FC Schalke ’04, Barcelona. Jan also traveled to Japan and Korea for 2004 World Cup, attending events and clubs in local areas.

Jan holds the prestigious United States Soccer Federation A license, Dutch Youth Certificates and is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Jan’s wife is Nicola and his young son Eric is a future soccer star in the making.
