November 2, 2009, La Voz Weekly Online - The Voice of De Anza College - Ohlone College defeated the De Anza College men's soccer team 2-0 on Oct. 23, making their record 6-5-3. Ohlone wasted little time, as converted forward George Meyer II scored a 14th-minute goal, leaving De Anza to respond with relentless offensive effort. Game Day: October 27, 2009 - Ohlone weathered storms like this before, but a first half Hartnell fire flamed by incredible winds was too much for the Renegades today. October 24, 2009, Inside Bay Area - Why is the Ohlone College men's soccer team so improved this season? Perhaps it's the new Mayer in town. Freshman George Mayer II, who wowed 'em at Amador Valley High with his menacing 20-yard throw-ins and scoring panache as an outside midfielder, has helped put a hop back in Ohlone's step. Game Day: October 20, 2009 - Go forward early and score was the game plan for Ohlone today. The Renegades followed the instructions to the letter. Although the initial moments looked this way, the ensuing ten minutes found Ohlone struggling to gain a foothold as the Seahawks were not subscribing to the Ohlone plan. Game Day: October 16, 2009 - Ohlone welcomed Mission College to their home field for the second time this season by going after them early. George Mayer, who ended the game with four goals and an assist, created the first of several chances in the opening minutes by going doing the right flank, and cutting in for two shots with in the first five minutes. October 14, 2009, Tri-City Voice - An injury-depleted Ohlone soccer team traveled to Livermore to play the Las Positas Red-Tail Hawks on a windy Tuesday evening, Oct. 6. The fast track of the artificial-turf surface, combined with the questionable physical tactics of the Las Positas team, was enough to send the Renegades back to Fremont with a 2-0 loss. Daniel Galloway named State-wide Honorable Mention Athlete of the Month for September 2009
October 12, 2009 - Daniel Galloway had eight goals one assist for a total of 17 points in September despite playing four games at goalkeeper. During his 360 minutes as goal keeper he allowed seven goals with 39 saves. Read CCCAA Athletes of the Month - September 2009 (PDF).
Ohlone mishandles two consecutively
October 8, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - It’s as though all good things for the Ohlone Mens Soccer team have come and gone. Match Report: Renegades blanked by Los Positas
Game Day: October 6, 2009 - A frigid evening in Livermore results in Ohlone coming away empty and even more cold. Despite playing with an injury depleted team, Ohlone were seeking the road win, but four minutes in, a breakaway along Ohlone’s right side resulted in the Red Tail Hawks hitting the scoreboard first with an apparent offside scrambling resulting in the goal. Daniel Galloway is Tri-City Voice Sports Male Athlete of the Month for October 2009
October 1, 2009, Tri-City Voice Sports - Ohlone men's soccer sophomore stud Daniel Galloway gets the nod for this month's Tri-City Voice Sports Male Athlete of the Month. In his second year out of Irvington, the goalie-turned-forward has come on strong, scoring eight goals, plus one assist since the position change. Game Day: September 29, 2009 - Ohlone comes to Gilroy and attacks at the start of today’s match. A wall of Renegade white immediately rushed down upon the Gavilan Rams, with the help of strong wind. It would only be a moment after kick off before freshman George Mayer II would exact his first attempt on goal from the right wing as Ohlone sunk deep into Gavilan territory and would stay for the better part of the first half. September 24, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - Daniel Galloway had made four consecutive starts at the keeper position for the Ohlone Men’s Soc-cer team. September 23, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Men's soccer had a interesting week as they played two road games against Merritt and Mission College. "Merritt has a fast turf field and we practice on natural grass," said Ohlone Head Coach Jan Nordmo. The turf initially did not affect Ohlone as they would score in the 28th minute of the first half. Game Day: September 22, 2009 - Ohlone was not bashful this late afternoon taking it Napa Valley Storm from the start. The game slated for a 4 PM kick got off late due to uncontrollable delays. Game Day: September 18, 2009 - After a less than stellar performance against Merritt on Tuesday (loss 3-1), the Renegades had to get back into their grove and they had to do it convincingly. No doubt after the first ten minutes Ohlone was going to make amends for their result earlier in the week, and they started attacking the flanks of the Mission College Saints. Men's soccer finishes homestand with 2-1 win over Monterey Peninsula
September 10, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - “The wins help out a lot, be-cause it builds confidence in the players.” Ohlone Men’s Soccer Head Coach Jan Nordmo couldn’t have asked for a better start for his team in 2009 after the Renegades beat the Monterey Peninsula Lobos on Tuesday, 2-1 to finish their season opening three-game homestand with a 2-1-0 record. Ohlone opens the fall season: Men's Soccer
September 9, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Renegades came out against Gavilan College last Tuesday, Sept. 1, ready to fight back from a 2-0 loss to West Hills back on August 28. Despite trailing 1-0 to Gavilan at halftime, Ohlone came back scoring three goals against the Rams to win their first game of the season 3-1, avoiding another losing streak to start the season. Game Day: September 8, 2009 - Off to its second win of the season, the Renegades of Ohlone scored two solid goals to continue establishing themselves in the 2009 season. While two wins does not mean a team is going to win league and the championship, the early wins certainly helps Ohlone’s confidence going forward and it is not just the wins, they are playing well; creating chances and forcing luck to side with them. September 2, 2009, Tri-City Voice - After a dismal 2008 year, new men's soccer Head Coach Jan Nordmo was brought in to turn the ship around for the Renegades in Fremont. However, last Friday's season opener against West Hills College from Lemoore was not what he had in mind as Ohlone dropped their first game of the 2009 season, 2-0. Game Day: September 1, 2009 - Ohlone Renegade men took to their home field for the second time in five days this warm Tuesday afternoon facing Gilroy’s Gavilan College. They were trying to shake off a wobble on Friday when they struggled to recover from a two goal deficit against West Hill College, they were also trying to shake off the dust from last season’s challenges when it was last October that they had their first win of that season. April 25, 2009 - The Renegades men’s soccer took to the road again as part of their non-traditional season competitions this spring. Although a game victory was not going to count toward much, a moral victory certainly would. The Ohlone side faced a strong East Bay team, interim coached by former Ohlone Coach Don Williams. Match Report: Ohlone Men’s Soccer hits the road
April 10, 2009 - New coach, new players and new tactics were all on the minds of several returning players including captains Weihan Jin and Daniel Galloway. The team started out a bit unsettled when the Mission exploited the right side with a pacey run and forced keeper Iman Aghel to claw down a shot on goal. Ohlone would be forced to contain these break aways and were able to stiffle most attempts by Mission without giving up actual shots on frame.
