2009 Season Summary - Ohlone College Renegades Men's Soccer

Finished second in division, two points out of first place.

Ohlone’s Men’s Soccer Run Ends

November 18, 2009 - The Renegades of Ohlone ended their season with post season play hopes dashed as they fell two points short to De Anza College who took the division’s first place.

Ohlone’s end was harder than hoped, as it failed to get a win in its last three games, any one of which would have put them through. All tough teams lined up to give the Renegades a tough go of it, Foothill on Friday (11/6), City College San Francisco on Tuesday (11/10) and West Valley on Friday (11/13).

All of these teams have qualified for the post-season play, and had Ohlone beaten one of them, it would have been enough it would have been enough to go on to the playoffs. However, player injury would become a factor especially in Ohlone’s last two game’s which forced Forward Daniel Galloway back between the posts to replace Iman Agel, GK, who had his shoulder separated in fantastic game against CCSF where a single goal in the two to one loss could have made a difference to Ohlone.

The Renegades, unfortunately, gave in to fatigue and injury as a season’s worse nine goal deficit to West Valley left a sour taste in Ohlone’s gut.

“We gave up lot of goals in our last three games” said Coach Nordmo “but it is not representative of our season. We had a lot of success and certainly we will remember that and build upon it. Our program has turned a hard corner and we are ready to move forward again.”

The Renegades ended up posting at 11-9 season record, improving on past seasons’ record. The team's record is not the only reflection the teams improved game, the players all showed mark development and many will return for next season which should give the team a healthy season next year.
