The Ohlone College men's soccer team rebounded from a stinging loss to Marin College on September 3 with 2 impressive non-conference wins last week, improving their won-loss record to 3-2.
The Renegades regained their footing after the Marin loss by taking out some frustration on the visiting Mission College Saints. George Mayer II scored 2 of Ohlone's 3 goals, his first coming in the 7th minute with an 18-yard shot. Mayer's second goal came early in the 2nd half, putting Ohlone up 3-0 (Jarod Fluke scored the Renegades' second goal in the 15th minute). A Mission goal off a penalty kick in the 69th minute was all the Saints could muster.
Ohlone's next win was even more emphatic, a 4-0 home shutout of Merritt College by goalkeeper Eric Underwood, playing his second complete game in the net in place of the injured Elmer Ceja. Head Coach Jan Nordmo called the victory "a little payback" for last year's loss at Merritt.
5 minutes into the game, sophomore Nicholas Sanchez-Torrez scored off a pass from Dustin Richards's free kick. By halftime, Ohlone led 3-0 after Fluke's pair of goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes. Carlos Zarate drilled a 2-yard laser to ice the game for the host Renegades.
