The playoffs are rapidly approaching for the Ohlone College softball team.
With just four games remaining, the Lady Renegades are 17-18 overall and 6-8 in conference play.
Thursday Ohlone picked up a great comeback victory over the City College of San Francisco 4-3.
Ohlone held on to a 1-0 lead going in to the top of the sixth inning. The Rams were able to get to Lady Renegade hurler Kelly Taylor, scoring three runs and taking a commanding 3-1 lead.
Ohlone did not seem fazed at all by this and came out swinging in their next at bat.
The Lady Renegades were able to bounce back by scoring three runs of their own to take the lead back and seal the 4-3 victory.
Taylor helped her own cause, driving in two runs on two hits. Ariana Marquez and Sarita Leon also drove in runs for Ohlone in the victory.
"Sarita has aspirations to go to a four-year school and I think she can," Runyon said. "She has an unbelievable work ethic and sometimes she leaves practice and goes straight to the gym."
Gabriela Reyes had two hits in three plate appearances on the day for Ohlone. Taylor was able to shake off a scary moment in the fifth inning when a ball struck her in the cheek and maintain her composure going the distance for the win.
On Saturday, De Anza College came to Fremont for a conference battle.
The Lady Renegades were not able to overcome the potent bats of the Dons and fell 9-2.
Leon and Alyssa Raguini drove in the pair of runs for the Lady Renegades in the losing effort.
Next on tap for Ohlone will be a home game against rival Chabot College. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Fremont campus.
