Renegades make playoffs

For the Ohlone Renegades, it is now on to the regional playoffs which begin this Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3 in a best two-out-of-three format. Ohlone received the sixth seed out of 16 teams in NorCal and will host number-11 seed, Merced College.
Ohlone's games will be played on the Ohlone Campus. Game times are Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m.; Sunday, May 3, at noon; and Game 3, if necessary, will follow Game 2. Daily admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and seniors, 60 and over. There is a $2 parking charge on Saturday (have two $1 bills handy for the machine) and free parking on Sunday.
The eight regional winners advance to the second round of regionals over Mother's Day weekend, May 9-10. The four highest remaining seeds will host second round games for the right to go to the state tournament, May 15-18, in Salinas. If home teams win out in round one, including Ohlone, the Renegades will travel to Cosumnes River for the second-round games. For Ohlone to host a second-round games, two of the top five seeds have to be upset.
Local players receiving all CCN first team honors are from Ohlone, sophomores Kim Cawley (Milpitas), Jamie Miller, and Kathryn Sumner (Washington) and freshman Ashley Nahale (Kennedy) and from Chabot, sophomores Nikki Frieburg and Deena Qualls (Logan). Second team honors went to Ohlone sophomore Audrea Lopez and freshmen Paulina Gentry (Washington), Julyssa Perry (Logan) and Shelby Tomasello. Chabot second teamers are sophomores Emily Cipolla and Cristina Panuco (Logan) and freshman Brittany Wright.
