Chabot and Ohlone softball hit the road

Chabot Gladiators and Ohlone Renegades softball teams opened the week on Monday, March 15, with both teams playing Siskiyous of Weed at Chabot.
Against Chabot, Siskiyous scored four runs in the second inning; three in the fifth; and two more in the seventh while holding the hosts to a single run in the fourth for a 9-1 victory.
Sophomore Shannon Merritt went the first five innings for Chabot before being relieved by freshman Jennica Bull. Amanda O'Connor was the only Gladiator to do any damage offensively, going 1-2 with a homerun.
Against Ohlone, after going scoreless in the first two innings, Siskiyous plated four runs in four innings off an RBI groundout and three solo homers. Ohlone got on the scoreboard against Jordyn Brown in the bottom of the seventh when Shelby Tomasello singled home Julyssa Perry it 4-1, which would hold for the final.
Chabot and Ohlone both played road games against their counter parts from Coast Conference South (CCS). Ohlone traveled to Salinas on Thursday, March 18, and defeated Hartnell, 9-0. Meanwhile, Chabot lost to Gavilan on Tuesday, March 16, 9-8; and on Thursday, March 18, dropped a 6-1 decision to San Jose City.
Both Chabot and Ohlone traveled to Napa for the Napa Valley Tourney on Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21.
Chabot went 3-1-1, defeating Napa Valley, 6-1; Yuba, 8-2; and Marin, 10-3. Chabot's lone loss came to Mendocino, 6-1; and they tied Hartnell, 2-2, due to time constraints.
Ohlone went a perfect 5-0 at Napa, defeating Santa Rosa, 3-1, West Valley, 12-6, San Jose City, 1-0, San Diego City, 2-0, and Mendocino, 8-0. Ohlone is 12-2 in its last 14 games
Chabot is now 3-4 in Coast Conference-North play, 10-15-1 overall. They play CCS second place Gavilan at home on Thursday, March 25, at 3 p.m. Ohlone is 7-0 in CCN, 18-7-1 overall. Ohlone played Gavilan on Tuesday, March 23 (score unavailable at press time).
Thursday, March 25, the Renegades host CCS first place San Jose City at 3 p.m. Ohlone then travels to the College of San Mateo on Saturday, March 27, for a 1 p.m. game against Shasta. On Monday, March 29, Chabot and Ohlone battle each other at 3 p.m. on the Fremont Campus of Ohlone. For results and future schedules, log on to the TCV Sports Web site at www.tricityvoice.com/sports.
