The Ohlone College volleyball team drove out to Monterey Peninsula College on Friday evening seeking redemption from last year’s loss that went to five games. Freshman’s Brittany Creel and Marcela Chinn had recently come back from various injuries and even though the Renegades were equipped with their entire team for the first time this season, it was a new team playing together on the court.
The players had to adjust quickly if they wanted a chance of beating Monterey Peninsula. The match was a point-by-point struggle right from the beginning and ended up being a game of strategy. One team would adjust and make changes on the court, and then the other team would respond by making changes of their own.
All in all, both teams were evenly matched in talent, skill and competitiveness; however, it was Monterey Peninsula College that came out on top. The match ended in a 3-2 victory for Monterey Peninsula (28-26, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25, 10-15). Even though the results were disappointing, the Renegades put up a good fight and learned a great deal from this match that will help them in future games.
