The Ohlone women’s volleyball team is proving they are a force to be reckoned with. Last Friday, at the Cougar Classic tournament in Alameda, the Renegades went 2-0 in matches beating Lassen College and the home team, College of Alameda. They brought the same energy and enthusiasm to the match on Tuesday, beating San Jose City 3-0.

The evening started off with the National Anthem, as it usually does at Ohlone, followed by a moment of silence for those who suffered and risked their lives on this day 11 years ago. Soon after, the games had begun. Ohlone started off strong, making a statement in the first game by winning 25-13. The next two games were not as easily won and you could tell San Jose City was not going to give up without a fight. Ohlone pulled through with a score of 25-21 in the second game and 25-22 in the last game. Although Ohlone let up a little by the end of the match, it never felt like the game was out of their control.

Outside Hitters Jennifer Covey and Brittany Creel tied with 8 kills and Middle Blocker Selena Samorano was not far behind with 7. Lindsey Calabrese, sophomore Libero led the match with 17 digs and Setter Olivia Downing had 15 assists. After beating San Jose City, the Ohlone women’s volleyball team record is now 6-1. Undefeated at home and on a 4 game winning streak, it doesn’t look like the Renegades are slowing down anytime soon.
