The Ohlone Women's Volleyball team faced Chabot College at home on Wednesday evening in their first conference match of the season. In an intense 5 set match, the Lady Renegades pulled out a 3-2 victory to make their conference record 1-0.

Chabot came out strong in the first game beating the home team 20-25. The Renegades knew they would have to pick up their game to have a chance at a victory.

The second was similar to the first with Chabot winning 18-25. Chabot seemed to be unstoppable. The mood was low, but the Renegades are not a team that gives up lightly. The third game was close with Chabot fighting to finish the match and Ohlone fighting to stay in it, but the Renegades squeaked by with a 27-25 win to hold off Chabot, which ended up being a turning point in the match.

In the fourth game the Renegades were the ones that seemed unstoppable with Libero Lindsey Calabrese being a digging force in the back row and Middle Blocker Selina Samorano not letting anything get passed her at the net. Ohlone won the fourth game 25-20.

By the fifth game the Renegades looked like a new team, getting stronger as the match went on while Chabot was getting weaker. The Lady Renegades finished off the match strong with a 15-6 win.

Jennifer Covey led the Renegades with 15 kills, 1 ace, and 26 digs. Lindsey Calabrese had a season high number of digs for a match with 39 and Selina Samorano had a season high number of blocks with 8. Olivia Downing led in assists with 19 and also was a major player on defense with 22 digs. The Lady Renegades prove again their team has perseverance and heart.
