Volleyball honors sophomores in final home game

November 18, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - “We just got to bring it.” Much similar to the words of Ohlone sophomore middle blocker Kelly Idle, Lady Renegades Head Coach Jeremy Peñafor claimed that Ohlone had to bring it to the Rams in order for the Lady Ren-egades to defeat City College of San Francisco. Renegades fall flat

Ohlone sports roundup: Women's Volleyball

October 28, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Lady Renegades volleyball team removed a monkey from their backs with their first conference win of the season, beating home team San Jose City College 3-2.

Ohlone won the first set 25-21, but spent most of the second fighting back from a deficit before pulling out a 26-24 thriller. The Lady Jags fought back to equalize the match with 25-22 wins in the third and fourth sets, but Ohlone broke a 6-6 tie in the fifth and went on to win the set and the match, 15-10.

Unfortunately, the Renegades couldn't get a streak going, as on their return home they lost a hard-fought five-setter to Skyline 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 20-25, 15-10) on October 23.

October 22, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - “I feel as if something had been lifted off me.” After a nail-biting five-set win over San Jose City College Wednesday night, Ohlone Volleyball Head Coach Jeremy Peñaflor will no longer have to answer the question if, or when his team will win a conference game. Lady Renegades struggle to find groove

October 15, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - With only two wins on the year, the Ohlone College Volleyball team has yet to catch a break. Wins over College of Alameda and West Hills College early on gave Ohlone much-needed momentum to improve on last year’s disap-pointing stretch. October 7, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone's women's volleyball team opened up their league play with an excruciatingly close home loss to Chabot on Friday evening (Oct. 2). Chabot won the match 3-0, but each game went down to the wire. Scores were 25-23, 25-23 and 26-24.

Volleyball ready for conference

October 1, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - With the conference opener against the Chabot Lady Gladiators coming up this Friday, the Lady Renegades came up with a huge win against West Hills, three sets to one (25-8, 25-20, 14-25, 25-11) last Friday, building momentum for the first conference game of the season. September 30, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Lady Renegades' volleyball evened their record at 2-2 with a Friday night, Sept. 25, home win over the West Hills Falcons. Coach Jeremy Penaflor's squad dominated the first game 25-8 and pulled off a 25-20 win in the second on the strength of Jayme Leftridge's imposing net presence and the service consistency of Stephanie Cao and Rachel Miramontez. Volleyball falls to Consumnes

September 17, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - After taking Division-III Mills College to five games last Thursday, the Lady Renegades looked nothing like a team that took on a D-III team in their three-match loss to Cosumnes Rivers Wednesday night. Read more Volleyball falls to Consumnes (PDF).

Ohlone finds ways to rise and fall: Women's Volleyball

September 16, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Renegades were able to dig out a victory against four-year institution Mills College. The squad, fresh off a tough loss to American River, played Mills College (NCAA DIII NAIA) down to the wire in a 3-2 battle. Against American River, second-year Head Coach Jeremy Penaflor said, "We played hard."

That type of hard work showed up against Mills as Ohlone went (16-25, 25-25, 25-20, and 15-13).

Volleyball blanks Alameda, 3-0

September 10, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - Despite getting blown out by West Hills last Wednesday, and their match against Laney College being postponed, the Lady Renegades proved that they could play at a top level in their 3-0 sweep of the College of Alameda Wednesday night. Ohlone opens the fall season: Women's Volleyball

September 9, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Lady Renegade's Head Coach Jeremy Penaflor seemed very optimistic about the 2009 season going into Wednesday's opener against American River College, however, his optimism only went so far as Ohlone was swept in three games by the Beavers, 25-20; 25-22; and 25-16.
