With a new academic year upon us at Ohlone College in Fremont and Chabot College in Hayward, each of the school's fall sports teams are prepping for a run at a championship in the fall.

For the Ohlone Renegades, the fall sports programs haven't seen the same success as the winter and the spring sports have seen in years past. However, there have been some improvements on one end, and a bit of a setback on the other.

Ohlone Women's Volleyball

From the pitch to the volleyball court, the best thing to say about the Ohlone women's volleyball team is that they took a step in the right direction.

They took a winless conference record in 2008 under then new head coach Jeremy Penaflor, to one-win conference record in 2009, defeating San Jose City in five sets, in dramatic fashion as well.

The Lady Renegades look to take the next step in 2010 and have a solid chance at a good season with a core group of sophomores coming back for the 2010 campaign including Stephanie Cao and Jayme Leftridge. The Lady Renegades begin their season at Laney College in Oakland on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
