SAN FRANCISCO—It wasn't supposed to end this way for the Ohlone College women's basketball team.

The Renegades, who won their first Coast Conference South title in three years, watched the season come to an end Friday night at City College of San Francisco.

Ohlone, which went 25-6 this season, suffered a first-round loss to CCSF in the state playoffs, 74-68.

"It's disappointing for the season to end so abruptly," Ohlone coach Elizabeth Stanley said. "Every year you want each team to be as successful as possible. I don't think any of us were ready for this to be over."

Ohlone, which trailed 34-29 at the half, got a game-high 29 points from sophomore Danesha Wright. Teammate Taylor Lyons poured in 15.

Stanley hopes this loss will stay fresh in the minds of her freshmen, who will return for next season.

"I want them to remember this," Stanley said. "I want them to learn from this experience."
