Women's Basketball undefeated in Conference play; Regional Semifinal Playoffs on Friday

February 23, 2010 - The Lady Renegades (seeded #8) will be starting things off at home this Friday at 7:00pm in the Epler Gymnasium on Ohlone's Fremont campus.   They will be facing the #9 seed Contra Costa Comets (record of 19-9 overall).

As you may have heard, the Renegades were once again undefeated in Coast Conference North Division play, which signifies their first back to back undefeated season ever.  With that, they earned another Coast Conference Championship.

Some of the notables on the team are Jasmine Rubin and Ganeaya Rogers who were named Conference co-MVP's and both All State.  Crystal McLaughlin was also named All-Conference.  Ashley Valenzuela, Jayme Leftridge, and Elise Spain were honorable mentions.  The team is lead by Julia Allender, Conference Coach of the Year. 

Congratulations ladies and I am really looking forward to watching a great game this Friday.

Renegades Receive Honors: Rogers and Rubin named to the All-State team

February 24, 2010 - It was clear from the first game of the 2009-2010 season that Ohlone College had, what seemed to be at the time, two of the top guards in the state of California. The maybe become a definite when both Ganeaya Rogers and Jasmine Rubin were not only named the co-MVP’s of the Coast Conference South Division but named to the California All-State team. 2009-2010 Ohlone College Renegades Undefeated Coast Conference Champions Once Again

February 23, 2010 - The Ohlone College Renegades Women’s Basketball team yet again finishes perfect in conference play for the second year in a row. While only returning two players from the 2009 coast conference championship season the Renegades knew they had a lot of work cut our for them since day one. Ohlone women clinch basketball title

February 24, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone's women's team, who had clinched the CCN title two weeks ago, ended its regular season with a 55-37 win over De Anza, followed by a season-ending 70-61 loss (the Renegades' first in the CCN this year) to Foothill. Mission unable to handle Lady Renegades

Ohlone basketball continues winning ways

February 10, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone's women's team seems to be engaged in a game of one-upsmanship with the men's team. Coach Julia Allender's Lady Renegades have rolled through the Coast North Conference. Ohlone's women's team seems to be engaged in a game of one-upsmanship with the men's team. Coach Julia Allender's Lady Renegades have rolled through the Coast North Conference. After its 63-31 spanking of Hartnell College on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 3, the Lady Renegades sit at 13-6, 8-0 in conference.

The Renegades have been led by the stellar guard play of Jasmine Rubin and Ganeaya Rogers, who are both considered among the top guards in California.

Lady Renegades undefeated in Conference play

February 4, 2010 - The Ohlone College Women's Basketball team is still on the fight for another undefeated Conference Championship season. After last night's win the Renegades move their conference record to 8-0 with a remaining 4 games left to play. Behind the play of tow of the top guards in the state, Jasmine Rubin and Ganeaya Rogers the Renegades are looking to complete this task for a second time and continue their great play into the playoffs.

Come support your Women's Basketball team as they play their next home game tomorrow, Friday, at 5:30pm as they take on Monterey Peninsula College. Admission Prices: $5 General Admission, $3 Students with Student ID card, Children 12 and under Free.

January 13, 2010, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone's Lady Renegades improved their conference record to 2-0 with a 71-52 win over Hartnell. Jasmine Rubin led the Renegades with 22 points on 9-12 shooting, which included 4-5 from the behind the arc. Ganeaya Rogers and Elise Spain each contributed 11 points.

January 6, 2010, Tri-City Voice - The Ohlone College women's basketball team came off a 10-day break over the holidays to finish in third place in the Mike Gervasoni Memorial Tournament. December 23, 2009, Tri-City Voice - The Lady Renegades didn't have the same success as the men's side. While hosting their own four-team tournament, Ohlone dropped both contests - 68-64 to Irvine Valley on Friday, Dec. 18; and 74-72 to San Diego City on Saturday, Dec. 19. Small college notebook: Ohlone Renegade coach Julia Allender may be JC's renaissance woman

December 11, 2009, Contra Costa Times - If the Ohlone College women's basketball team looks fit to the finish, Renegades fans can probably thank the squad's new head coach. Julia Allender has a master's degree in human movement from Southern Utah University, where she excelled as a basketball guard after starring at San Jose City College and Santa Clara High. Lady Renegades edge out Foothill in OT

December 3, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - Beatrice Conejero hit a deep three-pointer with 20 seconds left in overtime to give the Ohlone Lady Renegades a 63-62 win over Foothill College last Tuesday night at home in a Coast Conference battle. The Lady Renegades came off a tough loss to Delta College the Thursday prior, and overcame many blown leads to come away with the victory. Ohlone is now 2-1 overall. Former Renegade Markiell Styles Living her Dream at the Next Level

December 2, 2009, Rebel Nation (UNLV) - Sophomore transfer Markiell Styles, on the other hand, was quicker to acknowledge that the process has been a bit overwhelming. Though the 6-3 center is averaging 8.5 points and 6.7 rebounds, she still is struggling to come to grips with all that has happened over the past few months. November 24, 2009 - The Ohlone College Renegades took Foothill, a State Championship contender last year, to overtime last night in a Coast Conference cross-over battle. Women's hoops: New coach, same swagger

October 29, 2009, Ohlone College Monitor - The Ohlone Lady Renegades are looking to build off a solid ’08-’09 campaign as they head into a new basketball season. Last year’s team was the firstteam in school history to finishthe season undefeated in conference play, (12-0), and 19-9 overall. Sophomores Louise Valdez and Christina Dixon are Moving On 

August 26, 2009 - Christina Dixon signed her Letter of Intent to Cal State San Bernadino for the 2009-2010 season.  Chrisitna’s athleticism should fit her right in with the Coyotes next year and help them to a winning season.  The Coyotes compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. 

Louise Valdez plans on finishing her collegiate career at Cape Breton University which is located in Novia Scotia, Canada.  Louise became a starter for the Renegades last year helping to lead them to their undefeated season.  She looks forward to continuing her success with the Capers who are continual playoff contenders and one of the top programs in Canada.

Ohlone's outstanding players sign to four-year schools

June 17, 2009, Tri-City Voice - Ohlone women's basketball has one of the best team's in the state. The team swept through the competitive Coast Conference with an impressive 12-0 record and made it to the "Sweet 16" of the state basketball tournament. Lady Eagles Add California Guard for 2009-2010 Season

Press release, June 16, 2009 - Coach Walsh and his staff are excited to announce the addition of Cassie Bates from Fremont, CA. Bates is a 5'8" point guard from Ohlone College and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Cassie helped guide the Women's Basketball team to a perfect 12-0 conference record and an overall 19-12 record. The Renegades lost in the "Sweet 16" of the California Junior College state playoffs. Sophomore Casceal Swaggard signs her Letter of Intent

June 4, 2009 - "Casceal Swaggard (nickname CC), has been one of the leading scorers and rebounders for Ohlone the past two seasons.  CC came to Ohlone from Oakland Tech High School in 2007 and made great improvements throughout her stay.  She came in being by far one of the most athletic players at her position throughout the state." Freshman Center Signs to UNLV

May 27, 2009 - "After one year at Ohlone College, freshmen center, Markiell Styles signed her letter of intent, Wednesday May 20th, to continue her basketball career at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. UNLV competes in the Mountain West Conference along with the University of Utah, BYU, New Mexico,San Diego State, Air Force, Texas Christian, Colorado State and the University of Wyoming some of the better women’s programs on the west coast." Ohlone finishes perfect in conference play

April 29, 2009 - "The Renegades of Ohlone College swept the Coast Conference finishing a perfect 12-0.  A lineup consisting of 5 sophomores and 6 freshmen jam-packed with speed and determination they would ensure this years Ohlone women’s basketball team was not going to go unnoticed, and this was proven through the entirety of the regular season." Ohlone College announces new Women's Basketball Head Coach for 2009-2010 Season

Press release, April 20, 2009 - 'Athletic Director Chris Warden announces new Women’s Head Basketball Coach for Ohlone College. Chris said today that three year assistant coach Julia Allender would be fulfilling the role of Head Coach for the 2009-2010 season. “There were a lot of qualified applicants, but Julia has the entire package that I was looking for to take this program to the next level” said Warden.'
